Obituary: Wilifred C. "Willie" Shoemake
Wilfred C. "Willie" Shoemake, 88 of 1743 S 8th Ave. E. ,
died of heart failure, Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Skiff Medical
Center in Newton. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at
2 p.m. at the Foursquare Church in Newton with the Rev.
James Black, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Sugar
Grove Cemetery in rural Newton. Friends may call after noon
at the church where family will be present Saturday from 1
to 2 p.m. The Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton is
handling arrangements. Memorials in Mr. Shoemake's name will
be accepted.
The son of Charles and Wilhemina Jensen Shoemake, he was
born Oct 23, 1910, in Lacey. He married Juanita Marie Walker
Nov 30, 1939, in Newton. A resident of Newton for 70 years,
he also lived in Lacey and South Dakota. Mr. Shoemake was
employed by the Parsons Company for 31 years and by the UAW
Union Hall for 18 years. He was a member of the Newton
Foursquare Church and a past member of the UAW Local No.
997.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Chuck and Ruby of Northridge, calif. and
Keith and Andrea of Newton; five grandchildren; two
step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five
step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Talbot of
Newton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
