Percy Engle, 81, Former Resident Dies on Thursday
Funeral services for Percy Engle, 81, of Crescent, a
former resident of Jasper County, will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Monday at the Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs.
Mr. Engle will lie in state in Moffitt Funeral Home in
Mitchellville later Monday afternoon until approximately 11
a.m. Tuesday.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at
Sugar Grove Cemetery in the Metz community conducted by the
Rev. Hilton Griswold, minister of the First Assembly of God
Church in Newton.
Mr. Engle died Thursday evening in Mercy Hospital in
Council Bluffs.
Survivors are his wife, Eva O'Bannon Engle; a son, Paul
of McAllen, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Spencer (Evelyn) Wirt of
Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; a brother, Fred Engle, of
near Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James; a twin
sister in infancy; his parents; and a son in infancy.
The son of Andrew and Caroline Davidson Engle, he was
born in Baxter March 7, 1886.
He resided in the Metz community during his early life,
later moving to Newton where he operated the Engle Tile Co.
He resided in Des Moines and Missouri Valley for several
years before moving to Crescent. ~ The Newton Daily News,

Eva J. Engle, Former Newton Resident; Dies
Mrs. Percy (Eva Jane) Engle, 92, of Nehall, Calif., a
former resident of Newton died Sunday in Newhall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Loehr
Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove
Cemetery.
Survivors are her son, Prof. Paul Engle, of McAllen, Tex.; a
daughter, Mrs. Spencer (Evelyn) Wirt of Newhall, Calif.; and
four nieces and nephews, Robert Moffitt of Mitchellville,
Lindy Moffitt of Des Moines and Mrs. Leo (Irene) Toedt and
Mrs. Norman (Eva) Harpole, both of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
The daughter of Oscar and Sarah Colson O'Bannon, she was
born Oct. 14, 1889 in Nebraska. ~ Newton Daily News,
