It is Mr. Lawson Watt, and his marriage occurred last Thursday evening. It took place at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Halliwill, living southwest from Metz, the bride being Miss Mary Halliwill, a lovable, worthy woman. Rev. King, of Colfax performed the ceremony. It was a quiet wedding, only the families being present. The bride was attired in a handsome dress of light wool, trimmed with silk and pearl passementrie. On Friday evening, a reception was given at the home of the groom's mother, Mrs. Margaret Watt. About 56 guests were present, and it proved to be a most delightful occasion for all present. The supper was a feast, indeed. Mr. and Mrs. Watt will live with the groom's mother until Mr. Watt can build a house a farm, which will probably be next summer. May these people starting out in life together be blessed with all those things which will make them happy and prosperous, is the wish of their many friends. ~ Newton Journal, Newton, Iowa, October 7, 1896. |
