Will Book "B"

  Whereas I Abraham CHESTNUT Jr. of Laurel County and State of Kentucky am at this time in a low State of health but of Sound mind and diposing memory and knowing the uncertainty of life and the Certaintly of death, and being desirous while living to make Such disposition of my worldly effects as to me seems just and proper, do make ordain and publish this my last Will and Testament.

  And Firstly, for the purpose of educating or aiding in the education of my half brothers Samuel CHESTNUT, Charles CHESTNUT, James Edmond CHESTNUT, Pleasant Elly CHESTNUT andMy Half Sister Margaret Ann CHESTNUT, I set apart (After the payment of All of my just debts) the Sum of Twenty five dollars to each to be applied as hereafter directed.

  Secondly, It is my desire to give to my Brother John CHESTNUT the sum of Fifty dollars in part of an account due from him to the firm of Colver & Chestnut, and I hereby direct and allow him to credit upon his book account for that amount.

  Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my half Brother William CHESTNUT (after the payment of all my debts as aforesaid) all the remainder of my estate of every description whatever, and as the said William CHESTNUT is yet a minor I hereby nominate and appoint my friends William H. RANDALL and Granville PEARL guardians for him, With this request, and authority to them, that if the said William CHESNUT Should desire to take Control of said estate by Keeping up the partnership now existing between myself and Stephen D. COLYER, or otherwise, that the said RANDALL & PEARL permit him to do so.

  Fourthly, I hereby nominate and appoint my friends William H. RANDALL guardian for the above named Samuel CHESNUT, Charles CHESNUT, James Edmund CHESNUT, Pleasant Elly CHESNUT, and Margaret Ann CHESNUT, with a request that he shall appropriate the gift to them (during their minority as before mentioned, in as economical a manner as pr___.

  And ___ I nominate & appoint the afore named William H. RANDALL and Granville PEARL ___

Laurel County Court, January Term 1845

A paper purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Abraham CHESNUT, Jr. deceased was this day produced in Court attested by R.T. LIVELY and R. OHLER and fully proven to the satisfaction of the Court by the Oaths of the said R.T. LIVELY and Reuben OHLER - who stated taht the testator Signed & acknowledged said Will in their presence & hearing andthat they attested the same in presence of the Testator - They also proved that said teasator was at the time of sound mind & disposing memoery.  It is therefore ordered by the Court that said paper be admitted to record as the last Will & Testament of Abraham CHESNUT, Jr. dec'd.  Whis is done accordingly - Given under my hand as Clerk of Sd. Court.
