CITIZEN DIES
Albert
Begley, 82, died of pneumonia at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Brandenburg
of the Cressmont community. Death took the venerable farmer and citizen
Tuesday night. Burial will be in the old Huram Smith graveyard. He is survived
by another daughter, Mrs. Callie Pigg and by three sons: Mansion Begley,
Heidelberg, Perry Begley and Matthew Begley.

Mary M. SPENCER Childers, 84 formerly of Lewisburg, OH d. May 13, 1999 in Kettering, OH.
Born Feb. 18, 1915 in Fillmore, Ky the d/o Strong J. and Ila Dell (MARSHALL) Spencer. Preceded in death by former husband Porter CHILDERS in 1981; son Fred CHILDERS in 1997; sisters Alice THORPE and Daisy Mae SPENCER; brother, John W., Paul J., Sheridan and Bedford SPENCER.
Survivors are son, Glenn CHILDERS of West Alexandria, OH, Lonnie CHILDERS of Clayton, OH, Herbert CHILDERS of Huber Heights, OH, Gary CHILDERS of Kettering, OH; daughters, Joyce HOFF of Beavercreek, OH, Faye McMANAMA of South Whitley, IN, Rebecca GLENN of West Manchester, OH; brothers, Donald SPENCER and Samuel SPENCER both of Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Ivy WILLIS of Michigan, Madalie BARRETT, Walled lake, MI; Ina Faye LANG of Cincinnati, OH; 26 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Andrew Combs Dies At Crystal - Owsley County Courier, Friday, March 27, 1942
Andrew COMBS, 82, died at his home at Greeley Sunday, March 15, following an illness of about six weeks. Death ws due to heart trouble.
Born in Lee county in 1860, Mr. COMBS spent his entire life in the Greely community. He was married to Elvora GROSS in 1895. Most of his life was devoted to farming. He was a member of the Church of God.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the grave in the Combs cemetery by Rev. Delbert PASLEY.
He is survived by his widow, five daughters, Mrs. Sopha WHITE, Greeley; Mrs. Ruby SWORDS, Middletown, Ohio; Mrs Nannie RANES, Cincinnati, Ohio; Mrs. Maggie RANES, Greeley, and Mrs. Callie REYNOLDS, Happy, Ky.; and three boys, Marion and Ollney COMBS, both of Greeley, and Wm. COMBS of Middletown, Ohio; twenty-eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Lewis Combs Dies July 4 Beattyville Enterprise, Thursday, July 14, 1960
Lewis COMBS, 68, died Monday July 4, at the Veterans Hospital, Louisville, after a long illness. He was a resident of Conkling, a member of the Anglin Baptist Church and a World War I Vet.
Mr. COMBS is survived by his wife Mrs. Jane THOMPSON Combs; two daughters Mrs. Lola CLARKE and Mrs. Ruby LEDFORD, both of Franklin, Ohio; six sons, Leroy, Eugene, and Rollie COMBS all of Franklin, Ohio; Dale and Dallas COMBS, both of Conkling; a brother Roscoe BISHOP, Franklin, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Sallie HIGNITE, Cincinnati, Ohio and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday following the death at the King Justice Funeral Chapel at 1:00 p.m. by the Rev. Boyd SANDLIN. Burial was in the family cemetery at Conkling.

David Coomer Buried Saturday, March 4th
David COOMER, 75, died at his home near Athol, Friday, March 3, due to infirmities of age. Funeral services and burial were held Saturday afternoon in the family burying ground near the home.
Mr. COOMER was a native of this county living on his farm from early manhood until his death.
He leaves surviving him three daughters, Misses Lizzie and May COOMER, of Athol; and Mrs. Elmer BRYANT, of Lexington; six sons, Elijah ,Walker and Edgar of Athol; Leslie, of Lone; Willie of Winegar, Wis.; and Henry of LaGrange.

Rites Held For John M. Cornett
John Monroe CORNETT, 89, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chas. EVANS of Congleton, Friday night, March 20.
Born in Virginia in 1852, he was married to Mary McPherson COOMER in 1881. He was a member of the Christian Church.
Funeral services were conducted at the grave in the Roach cemetery near Pinegrove at 3:30 Friday afternoon by Rev. Luther Newnam.
Survivors
include one brother,
Broadus CORNETT of Middletown, Ohio; three daughters,
Mrs. Taulby UNDERWOOD of Idamay,
Mrs. Chester Roach and Mrs. Chas. EVANS
of Congleton; fifteen granchildren and thirteen great granchildren.
Dosha JOHNSON, 96 of Lee County d. July 18, 2000. She was born Oct. 30, 1902 in Owsley County the d/o the late George and Elizabeth TERRY.
Survivors are one sister-in-law, Delphia PATRICK of Booneville, KY.
Burial in the Lerose Cemetery.
Lee Johnson June 16, 1992 Logansport, Indiana
Lee Johnson, 90, Rt. 6, Logansport, died at 4 a.m. today in Home Hospital, Lafayette.
Born March 12, 1902 Lee County, Ky., he was the son of Elisha Johnson and Mary Hall Johnson. On March 31, 1921, in Booneville, Ky., he was married to Esther Reynolds, who died Dec. 11, 1971.
A retired farmer, Mr. Johnson had resided in Logansport since 1949.
He was a member of Logansport Church of God.
Surviving are two daughters, Ruby Hatton and Shirley DePew, both of Logansport; one sister, Mary Cobb, Nickelsville, Ky.; three grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
One son, six brothers, six sisters and four grandchildren preceded in death.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel.

Ora KING, 80 of Beattyville, KY d. May 17, 1999. She was the d/o the late Emery and Della BREWER Childers. She was a member of the Old Fashioned Penecostal Church of Clarkston, MI for many years.
Survivors include her husband, James L. KING of Beattyville, KY; one son, Willie (Martha) KING of Beattyville, KY; two sisters, Polly STOCKMAN of Beattyville and Nannie RIENAS of Shelby, MI; three brothers, Charles CHILDERS of LaPeer, MI, Denton CHILDERS of East Jordan, MI, and Lenox CHILDERS of Jackson; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Burial in the Childers Cemetery located at Widecreek, KY.
Troy Marshall Dies At Primrose, Owsley County Courier, Friday, May 19, 1939
Troy MARSHALL, age 53, was found dead near his home at Primrose Thursday, May 11. His body was discovered by his brother, Green MARSHALL, at 5 p.m., he had apparently been dead for several hours.
An inquest was conducted by Coroner R. B. RILEY and the jury's verdict was that MARSHALL had died of heart failure.
He is survived by his widow, Kate MARSHALL; five sons; Larkin, Robert, Charles, Hershel and Billie; three daughters; Pearl, Wanda Lee, and Genevee, all of Primrose; his mother Hanna MARSHALL, three brothers; Green, of Primrose, Roland and Goodloe of Vada, Ludloe of Virginia and one sister, Mrs. Wm. ABNER, Fincastle.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon by the Rev. J. H. HIERONYMUS. Burial was in the Marshall cemetery near his home.
Maudie BOOTH MOOREFIELD, 91 of Florence, KY d. April 6, 2000. She was born Sept. 20, 1908 in Lee County the d/o the late George W. and Dixie CRABTREE Booth.
Survivors are one son, Darold L. MOOREFIELD, Williamstown, KY; one daughter, Helen D. DURHAM, Cincinnati, OH; four sisters, Lula BEGLEY, Hamilton, OH, Edna BUSH, Leeco, KY, Mildred EVANS, Booneville, KY, Betty ISAACS, Lexington, KY; two brothers, Paul BOOTH of Beattyville, KY, Woodrow BOOTH of Villa Hills, KY; one granddaughter, Gina BLUME of Cincinnati, OH; two great granddaughters, Jessica Demaree and Sarah BLUME of Cincinnati, OH.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jill Lynn DURHAM.
Burial in the Crabtree Cemetery, Fixer, KY.
Elsie Mae PETERS Mays, 85 d. Nov. 25, 2000. She was born Jan. 24, 1915 in Owsley County, Ky to the late Laney and Mary (MATHEWS) Peters. She was the widow of Jesse MAYS.
Survivors include her stepmother, Tawra PETERS of Jackson, KY; one son and his wife, Morgan and JoAnn MAYS of Wetumpka, AL; one brother, Dorsie PETERS of Hickory, NC; four grandchildren, Roger MAYS, Alexandria, VA, Lois SHUMAKER of Corpus Christi, Texas, Carol BUSBEE of Pace, FL, Richard A. MAYS of Montgomery, AL; 8 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Cordelia SHOEMAKER, 73, died Tuesday in Dayton, Ohio. She was a member in Zoe Church of God.
Survivors: Husband, Charlie SHOEMAKER, Fincastle; mother, Mrs. Elizabeth COMBS, Zoe; sons Everett, Cincinnati, Roy, Middletown, Ohio; daughters Mrs. Nora MULLINS, Mrs. Anna Lee HALL, West Carolton, Ohio, Mrs. Lorena WALTON, Franklin, Ohio, Mrs. Ruby VANDERPOOL, Mrs. Betty WHISMAN, Middletown, Ohio; sisters, Mrs. Annie SHOEMAKER, Wisconsin, Mrs. Ollie STAMPER, Zoe, Mrs. Grace LEMASTER, Neon, and Mrs. Minnie MURPHY, Bellvue, Texas.
Funeral serviceswere conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Newnam Funeral Home by Rev. Orville MORGAN. Burial was in the Lane Cemetery near Zoe, with the Newnam Funeral Home in charge.
Willis Martin SHOEMAKER, 80 of Big Andy Ridge d. April 14, 2000. He was born March 9, 1920 in Lee County to the late Jim and Zella (WRIGHT) Shoemaker.
Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Bonetta (LUTES) Shoemaker; one stepson, Donald R. WILLIAMS of Beattyville, KY; one brother, Leonard SHOEMAKER of Middletown, OH; two sisters, Maude CAUDELL of Winchester, KY and Dolly CONRAD of Columbus, OH; five step granddaughters, and nine step great grandchildren.
Burial with Military Rites in the Shoemaker-Williams Cemetery.
Henry SIZEMORE, 74 of Booneville, Ky d. April 12, 2000. He was born Jan. 8, 1926 in White Oak, KY the s/o the late Lewis and Lillie (THOMAS) Sizemore.
Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Francis (TIREY) Sizemore; one brother, Elwood SIZEMORE of Booneville, KY; two sisters, Jessie BISHOP of Booneville, KY, and Esther GABBARD of Beattyville, KY.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Morton and Hugh SIZEMORE.
Burial in the Congleton Cemetery, Beattyville, KY.
Ada Oliver TURNER, 87 widow of John B. OLIVER of Beattyville, Ky d. April 17, 2001 at the KY River Medical Center in Jackson, KY.
She was born Sept. 6, 1913 in Lee County, Ky the d/o the late Ben and Mary Ann CRABTREE SLONE.
Survivors are two step daughters, Helen TAYLOR of Fairborn, OH; Reba TIREY of Louisville, KY; two sisters, Louise BRANDENBURG and Ila TYLER both of Beattyville, KY; 11 nieces and nephews.
Burial
in the Ashcraft Cemetery.
