* The original will of (4) Samuel,2 1700, has a significant blank space between the mention of Robert3 and that of William,3 enough for one or two lines across the page, more space than Robert’s single line. James is not called "5th son" where he is first mentioned, in the early part of the will. The person who wrote the will probably used that expression, based upon the will as it appears, James being the fifth son mentioned, with blank unfilled. Sam.3 and his father were prob. both living in Bradford in 1700; but Sam.3 was of Ames. In 1701.
