    Rabies Proves Fatal to Bloomfield Woman
    Stricken with rabies, following infection caused by the bite of a pet dog, the day before Christmas, Mrs. Caroline Fowler died early Sunday morning at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau.  The body was removed to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella Steele at Oran,  until time for the funeral. 
    Services were conducted at the Methodist church at Oran Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. Jesse Layton, pastor of the church, in charge of the services.  Interment was made in Friend cemetery.
    Mrs. Fowler is survived by the following children:  R. J. Fowler, Mrs. Roy Towns and Mrs. G. D. Lewis of Bloomfield; G. C. Fowler of Terre Haute, Ind.; R. E. Fowler of Birch Tree, Mo.; Mrs. J. L. Zimmerman of Malden; and Mrs. Ella Steele of Oran.
    Mrs. Fowler, who was aged 81 years, was playing with the dog when it snapped at her and scratched a small place on the top of her wrist.

NOTE: NOTE BY CAROL J. BOWMAN:  Caroline Elizabeth (nee Forister) Fowler was born 10 Apr 1855 in Humphreys Co., TN, and died 2 Feb 1936 in Cape Girardeau, MO.  She was the second wife (and widow) of James Harrison Fowler who was born 14 Jan 1840, in Humphreys Co., TN.  They were married 22 Jun 1873 in Humphreys Co., TN.
