Stephen COLLINS was born April 9, 1763 in Cumberland Co., NC, and served in the Rev. War from that county. In his pension records, he stated that he was a substitue during the first two compaigns. The first time was for John WESTBROOK of Wayne Co., NC and for the second time, a substitute for William DUNCAN of Wayne Co., NC. In past research, I have found people being subsitutes for kinsmen. Was there a family relationship between the Collins, Westbrook, and Duncan families? If so, what was that relationship? I will appreciate any leads. Arlina

am researching WILKINS and JORDAN in Wayne Co NC. Last week a distant cousin sent me a clipping from the News-Argus: "Closure At Last - Pilot's remains are returned from Viet Nam". The clipping did not have the date, but it must be either very late October or before Nov.5 '96. The story concerns a Navy Commander George H. Wilkins, who was from Goldsboro, NC. It details his loss over Viet-Nam, to a recent burial in Arlington National Cemetery. No immediate family members had been located. His father, not named, died (assume Wayne Co) in 1967. CDR Wilkins was 35 years old in 1966, so would have been born about 1931. The article mentions that he was "born in Angier" but his mother lived outside of Goldsboro until the late '70s. Would it be possible for you to assist me in any way in trying to identify this man?
