Journals of the Nebraska State Historical Society

NSHS started publishing monthly journals titled "Nebraska History and Record of Pioneer Days" for members in February 1918. Eight were distributed that year, & were collectively considered Vol I.

In 1919, NSHS changed to a quarterly format. The first of these was identified as Vol II, no. 1 & dated Jan-Mar 1919. It lists the deceased Nebraska servicemen of "the Great War" (that list was to be modified in a later issue which isn't up yet).

Our thanks to Wendy Anderson who sent copies of the earliest journals. Others will be copied and "produced" for this NEGenWeb site as soon as possible. Please check back for additions.

Volume IV in 1921 was the first to appear in "magazine format", eliminating the columns of the "newspaper" format. These issues also had a "Table of Contents". Many bits of historical and genealogical interest are not listed in the Table of Contents. Therefore, topical & photo indexes have been provided (see below)
