the Second Territorial Legislature, and a member of the council in

hotel built at Bellevue.

Y., son of Eli and Sophia (Preston) Watson, removed with his
father's family to Allegan Co., Mich., in 1837. There he married,
Dec. 1845, Miss Elizabeth Gilbert, a native of Canada. Late in
1854 they settled near Bellevue. In 1882 he moved to Pierce Co.
The oldest son, Gilbert P. Watson, was a member of the legislature
of 1899. William R. Watson and Charles R. Watson, his brothers,

(1) Amos Gates, b. Sept. 5, 1829, Madison Co., 0., son
of Nehemiah and Hannah (Mills) Gates, married in 1852 Samantha
Arnett and located in Sarpy Co., June 1855. He was a member of

(p) William Larimer, Jr., b.
Oct. 24, 1809, Gettysburg, Pa., became a prominent business man at
Pittsburg and major general in the Pennsylvania militia. He came
to Bellevue in 1854, where he speculated in real estate and was a
member of the Second Territorial Legislature. In 1858 he removed
to Leavenworth, Kans., and that fall to the Pike's Peak gold
fields, becoming one of the founders of Denver. He returned to
Leavenworth in 1863, where he died May 16, 1875. - Publications

(q) Joseph Dyson, b. in Md. about 1820, was one of the
first settlers at Bellevue where he operated a lime kiln. He
enlisted in the Second Nebraska Cavalry and was killed in action
at the Pawnee Reservation, June 22, 1863. - Morton-Watkins, I, pp.
