in 1860 and settled at Nursery Hill in April 1864, where he ran a

(h) Samuel M. Masters came to Otoe Co. from
Jacksonville, Athens Co., 0., about 1862 and ran a stage station
at Nursery Hill. He died in Otoe Co. past 80 years of age. George
Masters and Enoch Masters were his sons. Enoch Masters married
Catherine Mercer and both died in Otoe Co. before 1870. -

(i) H. T. Voce was a Baptist minister and a
veteran of the Mexican War. Andreas, p. 1235.
(j) Elizabeth (Kellen) McKee, born in Delaware,
married there Henry McKee. also a native of Delaware. He worked as
a civil engineer on some of the early railroad lines in New York.
He died in Ohio in 1853 at the age of 48. The widow and his
children settled about two miles west of the site of Syracuse in

(k) Elijah Luff, b. in spring of 1834, county
Somerset, England, son of William and Ann (Wallen) Luff, came to
America in 1855. In 1857 he came to Nebraska City. working much of
the time as a freighter until 1863, when he took land in the
government township west of Syracuse. He married, Nov. 5, 1863,
Charlotte, daughter of William and Jane Mills, who had recently
come from county Somerset. - Chapman. pp. 657-8. See also Andreas,

(l) John Roberts, b. June 15, 1831, Belmont Co.,
0., was an early settler in the western part of Otoe Co. -

(in) Joseph S. Gray, b. Nov. 18, 1923, county
Durham, England, son of John and Jane (Sheldon) Gray, was a coal

(n) Peter Sibert, b. Sept. 17, 1817, Washington
Co., Pa., son of Isaac and Fanny (Robinson) Sibert, married Miss
Hannah Fleek in 1848. He settled in the western part of Otoe Co.,
where his wife died, Aug. 10, 1859. He married, 1860, Mrs. Sarah
(Neal) Horseman, daughter of William and Mary (Agerhardt) Neal and
widow of Isah Horseman. Their only child was Emma J. Sibert. The
other child in the census is Martha Horseman. - Chapman, pp.

(o) James Wallen b. Sept. 16, 1830, county
Somerset, England, came to America in 1855, and to Otoe Co. in
1859, settling in what is now Russell Pet. He married, May 2,
1858, Harriet Densley, also of county Somerset. - Andreas, p.

(p) Joseph L, Webb, b. Feb. 27, 1833,
Morristown, N. J., grew up in 0. In May 1857 he came to Nebraska
City with Elisha Adsit. In 1861 he married Amanda, daughter of
George and Elizabeth (Nesmith) White, b. Jeffersonville, Ind.,
Feb. 9, 1836. She had come to Nebraska City in 1859 where she
taught a private school and gave lessons on the piano. They
homesteaded in what is now Palmira Pet., in 1863. - Chapman, pp.

(q) John Deidrich Stutt, b. Feb. 21, 1821,
Hanover, Germany, son of Henry and Adelaide (Wieging) Stutt,
taught school several years before coming to America. His father
was a well-known musician. He came to America in 1847 and married,
May 15, 1855, Davenport, In., Catherine Oden also a native of
Hanover. In 1862 they settled in what is now North Branch Pet.,

(r) Joseph W. Talbot, b. Mar. 4, 1829, Lockport,
N. Y., son of Joseph and Hannah (Wilson) Talbot, grew up in Mich.
He married in 1859, Evelyn, daughter of James and Alvira, Reeves
of Pulaski Co., Ind. They came to Otoe Co. in 1860 and settled
near Syracuse two years later. He was a member of the legislature

of Henry and Catherine Damma. came to America with his parents in
1843. He grew up in Franklin Co., Mo., coming to Nebraska City in
1859. He married, first, 1863, in Franklin Go., Mo., Miss
Christine Rhodemeier. Henry Damma, his brother, b. Oct. 4, 1838,
came to Otoe Co. in 1861. He married Miss Charlotte Pahde. -

(u) William Schacht, b. Mar. 25, 1832,
Westphalia, Germany, son of Christof and Wilhelmina (Brine)
Schacht, came to America at the age of 16. He came to Nebraska
City in 1857 and in 1859 bought his farm in what is now Osage Pet.
He married at Nebraska City, Apr. 14, 1859, Caroline, daughter of
Christof and Caroline (Krappig) Brock, also a native of Germany.
She had come to America with her mother in 1843 after the death of

Londonderry, Ireland, son of Thomas and grandson of Thomas H.
Dunbar, moved with his father's family to New York State in 1829
and to Ontario in 1832. There he married, Sept. 11, 1851, Miss Ann
E., daughter of John Watson. He moved to Otoe Co. in Nov. 1856,
his father and grandfather having come the previous June. -

This volume includes, besides the
descendants of Rev. Henry1 Hall of Anne Arundel County,
Maryland, an account of the early descendants, of John Waters,
John Watkins, Mareen Duval, James Mulliken, Humphrey Belt,
Jonathan Prather, Robert Franklin, Richard Arnold, John Giles,
Philip Thomas, William liams, Thomas Plummer, George Yate, William
Loney, Thomas Donnellan, and Christian Keller, all of Maryland,
and Richard Stockton and William Cox of New Jersey. There is no
index. Much of this volume is devoted to wills, personal letters
and reminiscences, which add to its value, giving as they do a
much clearer picture of early Maryland. This material will be of
interest to students of history and sociology. Those who are
descended from the above families will wish to consult this
book.
