This Indenture, made this second day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Seventy-Eight Between Jacob W. HOLSAPPLE and Catharine his wife of Ancram, Malinda E. BISER wife of John BISER & John BISER of Greenport, Hannah M. STALKER wife of Milton STALKER and Milton STALKER of Claverack & Carrie PECK wife of Ira PECK & Ira PECK of Stockport All in the County of Columbia & State of New York & Philip H. HOLSAPPLE and Rachel C. BAILEY wife of George BAILEY of New Haven State of Connecticut parties of the first part and Phebe GAUL the wife of Cornelius D. GAUL of Claverack County of Columbia and State of New York party of the second part Witness that the said parties of the first part in consideration of the sum of Three Hundred and Twenty five Dollars to these duly paid have sold and By these presents do grant and convey to the said party of the second part her heirs and assigns All the tract or parcel of Land situated in the Town of Claverack County of Columbia and State of New York Bounded and described as follows. Northerly and westerly by lands of John H. SPEED, Southerly by Lands formerly of Adam HERUFAYER now of his daughter Eliza and Easterly by the highway containing one acre of land between the same more or less - Being the house and Lot which was conveyed by Lorenzo NICKERSON & Helen Augusta his wife to Maria HOLSAPPLE late the wife of the late John P. HOLSAPPLE but now deceased by Deed dated the Eleventh day of Mary 1874 Recorded in Columbia County Clerk's Office in Deed Book No. 50 at page 48 &c on the 23rd Day of March 1874 to which for a more particular description reference is herein made. The above grantors are the only heirs at Law and next of kin of said Maria HOLSAPPLE decd with the appurtenances and all the estate, title and interest therein of the said parties of the first part. And the said parties of the first part do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said party of the second part her heirs and assigns that at the time of the ensealing and delivery of these presents they are the lawful owners and are well seized of the premises above conveyed free and clear from all encumbrances and that the premises thus conveyed in the Quite and peaceable possession of the said party of the second part her heirs and assigns they will forever Warrant and Defend against any person whomsoever lawfully claim the same or any part thereof. In Witness thereof the parties of the first part have herewith severally set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.
Columbia County, SS On this 20 "day of April 1878 before me the subscriber personally appeared Ira Peck and Carrie Peck his wife, Milton Stalker and Hannah M. his wife. Jacob W. Holsapple and Catharine his wife Malinda E. Biser and John Biser her husband, to me know to be the same persons described in accordance executed the foregoing instrument and severally acknowledged that they executed the same And the said Carrie Peck, Hannah M. Stalker, Catharine Holsapple and Malinda Biser on a private examination by me each apart from her said husband, severally acknowledged that she executed, the same without any fear or compulsion of her said husband. State of Connecticut } Town of Orange in } S.S. County of New Haven } On this Fifteenth day of March in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight before me the subscriber personally came George H. Bailey and Rachel C. Bailey his wife to me known to be the same persons described in and who executed the {} instrument and severally acknowledged that they executed the same and the said Rachel C. Bailey on a private examination by me, apart from her said husband acknowledged that she executed the same freely and without any fear or compulsion of her said husband. Elias T.
