Babcock
"CHARLES BABCOCK, b. in R.I.
resided in Stonington, Connecticut; m. Catherine SMITH of Hillsdale,
Columbia Co., N.Y. She was b. in ______ and to which place he had emigrated
while a young man, and there he remained until 1797, when they removed to
Cayuga Co., N.Y. then a wilderness, and located on a new farm in the town of
Scipio with their family of 6 children. Here they remained until 1816, when
they, with all their children then living, removed to Ontario (now Yates
Co.) and located on a farm in Milo (then Benton) on the east shore of the
Crooked Lake, where they and their son Abiram and his family established
what is known as the Babcock Homestead and where the old people remained
until a short time before their death, both dying in the same year, in the
town of Rose, Wayne Co., N.Y. where they removed with their son, Stephen in
1827. Their children were Job, Eunice, Abiram and Stephen."

jointly with her brother Stephen and lived on the farm since known as the
