Ed Huffman, who resides a few miles north of this city with his father, was the victim of a terrible accident Sunday morning. He, in company with Frank Shorter, was running a band of horses on a hillside when his horse slipped and fell to the ground with him. The unfortunate victim fell beneath the horse and they slid down the hill several feet. Huffman was immediately taken to his fathers house and Dr. Clouchek was sent for. When the Dr. arrived at the home he found the boy terribly mangled. An examination disclosed the fact that he had a fractured skull, a broken nose, both upper and lower jaw bones broken, two ribs broken, an eye almost torn from its socket and internal injuries. Dr. Clouchek rendered all the surgical aid possible but at the present writing the victim has a poor chance of recovering.

Mrs. Marshall Huffman of La Grande, formerly of Union, died at Hot Lake January 21, 1931, after a long illness. She had been a patient there for about two years.
Deceased was a native of Cove and was aged 57 years, 7 months and 14 days. For a number of years the family lived on a ranch south of Union. She is survived by husband, son and brothers and sisters.

Death of Priscilla Huffman Occurs November 6.
The death of Mrs. Priscilla Huffman, occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jacob Long, a few miles north of this city Monday, November 6, 1905, and marks the passing of another of Union county's pioneers to that unknown country. Priscilla Huffman, whose maiden name was Harris, was born in North Carolina, March 19, 1819, and was therefore 86 years, 7 months and 17 days old at the time of her death. When four years old she moved from her native state with her parents to Virginia, in which state she was married to John Huffman in 1836. In 1865 she came to Oregon with her husband and family and settled about four miles south of Elgin, on Indian creek, and has made her home in this immediate vicinity ever since.
Deceased was the mother of fourteen children. Those who survive her are Joseph and S.H. Huffman, of Elgin; John Huffman, of Wallowa county; Mrs. Wm. Gorden and Mrs. Mary Long, of Elgin; Mrs. Margaret and Mrs. Eliza Hayden, of California. She also leaves a brother, Joseph Harris, in this city to mourn her loss, and thirty seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren besides numerous other relatives.
Coming to Union county in 1865, she was one of our oldest pioneers and was known and highly respected by a host of friends. She had been a life long member and earnest worker of the Primitive Baptist church.
The funeral services were conducted in the Presbyterian church of this city by Elder G.E. Mayfield and the enterment occured in the city cemetery.
