Mr. Saunders was born in Baker Sept. 19, 1897 to Samuel Saunders
and Lou Della Morse Saunders. In 1917 he
was one of the first men from Baker County to enlist in the Army.
He was married to Thelma Hazel Black in Baker
on June 13, 1925.
He was a long-time Baker County resident where he engaged in ranching
and had also ranched in Malheur
County. Surviving are his wife, Thelma; nephew, Kelvin Tupper
who he reared; son, Harvey v. Saunders,
Pocatello, Idaho; daughters, Della of Baker; Juanita Gleason, The Dalles;,
Wilma Cortabitarte, Boise;, Rachel
Traxtle, Springfield, Ore.; brother, Dogan Saunders, Columbus, Mont.,
seven grandchildren, six
great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
