Republican Charles Winship 3328 - 2059.
Prior to being elected Treasurer he served on the city council and was a
holdover council member in the election of 1863.

Cause of death: heart disease He served in the military 1861- in Lycoming
Co. PA. Enlisted April 16, 1861 as a
Private in Co. C, 11th Regiment Pennsylvania volunteers and on Aug. 15 1861 was honorably discharged at
Harrisburg PA. He reenlisted in Co. F,
84th regulars and was immediately made a Sergeant. Soon thereafter he was transferred to Co. L 6th US Cavalry as a
Sgt. His most serious injury was a
wound to the leg. Soon after the war he
returned to LaPort IN which was then the home of his uncle, George Mecum,
County Clerk. He was ill with Heart
disease. He was buried in Paltous
Cmtry, La Porte IN. He was a Blacksmith
in Kingsbury, IN.
He was married to Isabella
CRAFT on 25 Dec 1873 in La Porte IN, La Porte Co.. Isabella CRAFT died on 23 May 1916 in La Porte IN, La Porte

served in the military between 1861 and 1864 in Lycoming Co. PA. Civil War service: enlisted in Co. F., 84th
Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry on 7 October, 1861, then joined 6th U.S. Cavalry, Troop "A",
on 27 October 1862 at Knoxville, MD and
was honorably discharged at Harrisburg, VA 7 October 1864.
He was ill with Chronic Myocarditis, gangrene of leg in 1926 in
Elmira NY. He died on 25 May 1926 in Elmira
NY, Chemung Co.. He was buried in
Liberty PA, Tioga Co., Hart's Cmtry.

"Maggie" WILSON (daughter of Politus R. WILSON and Charlotte P.) on

Death of Mrs. Charles
(Margaret Wilson) MECUM: Morris, May 24 - Mrs. Chas. Mecum, aged 66
years, died at the Blossburg Hospital on Friday, of pneumonia. Mrs. Mecum had been in poor health for
several years. She leaves a husband and
two children: Mrs. James Fitch, of
Centerville, Ohio, and Bert Mecum of Blossburg. She was a member of the M.E. church at Hoytville for many
years. Funeral services were held at
the Methodist church on Monday, interment being made at Hart's cemetery in
Nauvoo. Charles William MECUM and

also assisted in surveying a portion of what now is the city of Mt. Pleasant.
