Frank Vázquez, 62,m of Neillsville died
Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 at his home.
Frank Ramon Vázquez, the son of Frank
Alfonso and Violeta (Salorio) Vázquez, was born Nov. 23,
1946, in Queens, NY. He attended Wheatley High School in Long
Island, NY, earned a bachelor’s degree in political science
from Ohio Wesleyan University and then went on to law school at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned his juris
doctorate in 1971. After law school, Frank moved to Neillsville and
joined Wayne Trimberger in private practice to form Trimberger and
Vázquez Attorneys at Law.
Frank was united in marriage July 1, 1972, to
Lorna Tae Thomas in Wisconsin Rapids. He stayed in private
practice for 19 years. For many of those years he also served
as the city of Loyal’s attorney and the Neillsville School
Board’s attorney. From 1990 to the present, Frank was
corporation counsel for Clark County.
Frank was a member of the Neillsville Rotary
Club, a founding member of the Neillsville-Marshfield Chapter of
the Ruffed Grouse Society and the president of the Neillsville
Library Foundation. He served a term as president of The
Young Lawyers Division of the Wisconsin State Bar Association and
also served on the State Bar Professional Ethics Committee. Frank
was renowned presenter and educator for the State of Wisconsin in
the field of children and family law for over 20 years.
He attended the United Church of Christ in
Neillsville and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, earning
32nd degree Mason status.
Frank is survived by his wife, Lorna; his son, Nathaniel (Maureen) Vázquez of London, England; and a future grandson due in February 2010.
Funeral services for Frank will be held Thursday,
Oct. 15, 2009, at noon at the Gesche Funeral Home in
Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate, and music
will be provided by Jodi Rueth, organist and Wendell and Kathy
Attoe and Dean and Carol Glaze, vocalists. Visitation will be
Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gesche Funeral
Home with a 7:30 p.m. Masonic Lodge Service and Thursday, Oct. 15,
from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment
will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
