Frank Vazquez, 62, of Neillsville, died Thursday,
Oct. 8, 2009, at his home on Sidney Avenue.
Frank Ramon Vazquez, the son of Frank Alfonso and
Violeta Salorio Vazquez, was born on November 23, 1946, in Queens,
New York. He attended Wheatley High School in Long Island, N.Y.,
earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Ohio Wesleyan
University, and then went on to law school at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1971.
After law school, Frank moved to Neillsville and joined Wayne
Trimberger in private practice to form Trimberger and Vazquez
Attorneys at Law.
On July 1, 1972, Frank was united in marriage to
Lorna Rae Thomas in Wisconsin Rapids. He stayed in private practice
for 19 years. For many of those years he also served as the city of
Loyal's attorney and the Neillsville School Board's attorney. From
1990 to the present, Frank was corporation counsel for Clark
County.
Frank was a member of the Neillsville Rotary
Club, a founding member of the Neillsville-Marshfield chapter of
the Ruffed Grouse Society, and the president of the Neillsville
Library Foundation. He served a term as president of The Young
Lawyers Division of the Wisconsin State Bar Association and also
served on the State Bar Professional Ethics Committee. Frank was a
renowned presenter and educator for the State of Wisconsin in the
field of children and family law for over twenty years. He attended
the United Church of Christ in Neillsville and was a member of the
Masonic Lodge, earning 32nd degree Mason status.
Frank is survived by his wife, Lorna, his son,
Nathaniel (Maureen) Vazquez of London, England, and a future
grandson due in February 2010. He was preceded in death by his
parents.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 14, from 5
p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, with a
7:30 p.m. Masonic Lodge Service.
Funeral services for Frank will be held at noon, Thursday, October 15, at the Gesche Funeral Home, preceded by visitation from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
