Schmidt, Bernard F. (1 APR 1911 - 26 DEC 1965)

Bernard F. Schmidt, 54, passed away quietly at his home early Sunday morning, Dec. 26, 1965. Death was due to a blood clot.

He was born April 1, 1911 in Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis., the eldest son of George and Josephine Schmidt. He attended St. Bernard's Parochial School and was graduated from Thorp High School in 1930. He was married to Frances Lucille Stewart on May 14, 1935 at Thorp, Wis. The family moved to Hudson, Wis. In July 1940.

He was employed by Brown and Bigelow as a salesman from 1943 until illness in 1962 prevented him from continuing. At the time of death, he was employed in the office at Brown and Bigelow.

Bernard was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Hudson, Wis., and the President's Club of Brown and Bigelow.

He is survived by his wife, Frances; three daughters: Mrs. Dennis (Betty) Nuckles of La Crosse, Wis.; Mrs. Joseph (Rosemary) Wesley of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. James (Kathy) Jerry of Lakeland, Minn.; and one son, Lawrence (Larry) Bernard, at home. Also 8 grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Arthur (Maria) Stewart of Thorp, Wis.; and Miss Alice Schmidt of Hudson, Wis.; one brother, Raymond W. Schmidt of Thorp, Wis., and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Visitation was held at the Cashman-Davis-McLaughlin Funeral Home in River Falls on Tuesday afternoon and evening, with funeral servcies on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1965, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hudson. Rev. Father James Griffin officiated, with interment in the church cemetery.
