Seivers, Delmar (10 Oct 1901 – 9 Dec 1978)

Delmar Seivers, age 77, of Owen, died at 12:05 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 1978 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 11th, 1978 at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen, with Rev. Douglas Groenewold officiating, and cremation followed.

Delmar Seivers was born on October 10, 1901 and was married to Edna Anderson, who survives him. He had been an officer for the State Highway patrol in Minnesota, and has operated a resort in Northern Minnesota before moving to Owen two years ago.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Gums of Rib Lake, one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Delmost of St. Paul, and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Donald, two brothers and three sisters.

Miss Lisa Annette Rohland, Owen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Rohland, Route 2, Withee, and Thomas Gene Hamm, Route 2, Owen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamm, Route 2, Owen, were united in marriage on Saturday, December 2, 1978 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Douglas Groenewold, pastor.

The bride, escorted to the altar by her parents, wore a long white silk organza gown, trimmed with Venice lace and a floor length veil trimmed with Chantilly lace. She carried a bouquet of red, yellow and white roses with baby’s breath.

Miss Lorie Rohland, Eau Claire, was maid of honor and Miss Nancy Clark, Owen, was bridesmaid.

Keith Parnewicz was best man and Jerry Hamm, Owen. Groomsman Richard Rohland seated guests

Both the bride and groom graduated from Owen-Withee High School, she in 1978 and he in 1977. Mrs. Hamm works for the Clark County Nutritional Program and her husband works at Cenex Feed Mill in Owen.

After a short wedding trip, they will live on Route 2, Owen.

Dell, Hazen O. (19 Aug 1890 – 4 Dec 1978)

Hazen O. Dell, 88, Owen, died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, December 4, 1978 at the Clark County Health Care Center.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Maurina Funeral Home, Owen. The Rev. Douglas R. Groenewold, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, officiated. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

Mr. Dell was born August 19, 1890. He married Della Craig, who died in 1968. He worked for Post Company in Owen.

Survivors include a son, Dallas of Goodman; a brother, George Dell of Evansville; a sister, Miss Angela Dell of the state of Washington; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Geary and Dorothy attended the baptism of their great-granddaughter, Jessica Leigh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Konrad Thorson, which was held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Wausau. A dinner followed at the Thorson home with other guests being Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Mengel and Susan of Stanley, Mrs. Freida Thorson, Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Foster of Janesville, and the Rev. and Mrs. Hendrickson and daughter of Wausau.

Mr. and Mrs. Greg Nevera of Colby are the parents of a son, Scott Dale, born Saturday, November 25, 1978 at the Medford Hospital.

Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Art Marcott, Curtiss, and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. James Nevera of St. Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Roettger, Owen. Great-grandmother is Mrs. Alvina Thieme of Curtiss.

School: O-W School Staff Enjoy Christmas Party (17 Dec 1978)

Faculty, school board members, janitors, cooks, and officer personnel were invited to attend the Christmas party, which is held annually for the group. Husbands and wives attended and enjoyed a gorgeous Swiss steak and prime rib dinner at 6:30 p.m. Following the dinner dancing to Lenny and Mel was enjoyed. The dinner party was held last Sunday, December 17, 1978.

Marshfield and Owen offices of the Wisconsin Gas Company held a Christmas party at the Meadowview Golf Club on December 1, 1978, to which about fifty guests, husbands and wives of employees attended the 8 o’clock dinner, followed by dancing to the Harmony Gold Tones. District Manager at Marshfield, Don Putman was presented with a gift from the employees.

A lovely lobster, tenderloin dinner was served, and dancing followed Each lady received a lovely centerpiece as a gift.

Withee Scoutmaster Wendell Steiner received the White Pine Scout District’s highest award to a volunteer scouter on Wednesday evening, December 20, 1978. Wendell received the award from Eugene McManus, White Pine District Camping Chairman, and Rick Stuart, White Pine District Executive, who read the opening.
