Cornelius Newton Bliss, merchant and
politician, was born January 26, 1833 at Fall River, MA. He married
Elizabeth Mary Plummer on March 30, 1859. Mr. Bliss was head of Bliss,
Fabyan & Company, operators of large textile mills. In 1892, he
became treasurer of the Republican National Comm. He served two years as
Secretary of the Interior under President McKinley and was asked to accept
the nomination of the Vice- Presidency in 1900 but declined. Had he
accepted, he would have become President when McKinley was assassinated in
1901. Mrs. Bliss died September 27, 1923 at New York City, and Mr.
Bliss died October 9, 1911. Children: Nellie Luther, Lizzie Plummer,
George F., and Cornelius Newton, Jr.

Cornelius Freeman Bliss,
farmer, was born December 10, 1828 at Essex, VT. He married Marcelia
M. Strickland, November 11, 1850 at Fremont, Lake County, IL. She died
April 15, 1873 at Emily City, Kansas, and he was afterwards married to
Mrs. Lois H. Gilbert. Mr. Bliss enlisted in the Union Army in 1861
and fought in the Battle of Chukominga, GA where he was wounded in the
head. He was discharged in 1865. Mrs. Bliss died in 1891 at Osborne,
KS. Mr. Bliss died May 11, 1888 at Bristow, KS. Children (with
first wife): Caroline, Dewey Eugene, Chauncey Elmer, Dora, Charles, and
Marcelia M.

Cornelius Everett Bliss,
sashmaker, was born April 5, 1833 at Rehoboth, MA. He married Harriett
Randall on November 25, 1853. Harriet Randall Bliss died September 12,
1858, and he was afterwards married to Elmira Jane Hervey. Mr. Bliss
enlisted in the 5th Massachusetts Battery during the Civil War and
served from August 12, 1862 to 1865. He fought in the battles
of Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville. Mr.
Bliss died August 11, 1908 at Providence, and Mrs. Bliss died March 31,
1926 at Providence.
Children: Everett Clinton, Willie Edwin, Fred Eugene, and Gertrude
Mabel.
