In the First Century
of the History of Springfield: The Official Records from 1636 to 1736 with
an Historical Review and Biographical Mention of the Founders by Henry
M. Burt, Burt lists two men with the name of Nathaniel Bliss but
several men
with the name "Nathaniel" exist within the time frame in Hartford.
Descendants of the Hartford line may know which Nathaniel did

Nathaniel Bliss, b. about 1622, son of Thomas Bliss and
Margaret Hulins, married Catherine Chapin 1646, died 1654.
Nathaniel Bliss, b. 1653, son of Nathaniel Bliss and
Catherine Chapin, married Deborah Colton 1676, died 1746, no issue.
Nathaniel Bliss, b. 1671, son of John Bliss and Patience
Burt, married Mary Wright 1697, died 1751 at Lebanon.
Nathaniel Bliss, b. 1679, son of Samuel Bliss and Sarah
Stebbins, married Mary Morgan 1704, died 1751.

"Nathaniel Bliss married Catherine
Chapin, daughter of Deacon Samuel Chapin, November 20, 1646. His homelot
was ten rods wide and was the second below the present William Street. He
died November 18, 1654, and his widow married Thomas Gilbert, July 31,
1655.
Nathaniel’s children were:—
Samuel, Jr., b. November 7, 1647, m. Sarah
Stebbins, and d. June 19, 1749, aged 102 years.
Margaret, b. November 12, 1649, m.
Nathaniel Foot.
Mary, b. September 23, 1651, m. Nathaniel
Holcomb.
Nathaniel, b. March 27, 1653, in.
Deborah Colton, daughter of George Colton."
