Birth and Baptism Records
BIRTHS
Birth record in the church book of Solwerd: "In the last of January 1777 is born a Son of Klaas Onnes and Anje Pieters, married people in Solwert, and named Onne by the H.(oly) Baptizing". [* Note A.G.: Onne's birthdate: January 31, 1777, I guess? He must have died before July 1784 in infancy, while he wasn't mentioned anymore in the subjoined marriage contract of Jelle Jans and widow Anje Pieters July 30, 1784]. Uncle Jan Berents and aunt Affeltje Thomas of Martje Alberts van Dijk had a big family: Albert found the birth of sons Stoffer, Thomas, Berent, Wolter and the daughters Zwaantje and Stijntje. Also: the first wife of Roelf Rotgers, had 4 children by her first-deceased spouse Jan Harms: a son Jan on 12 January 1772, a (child that died in infancy?) twin, son Jan and daughter Grietje on 15 November 1767 and a son, Harm, in Dec 1761. Besides that Roelf Rotgers had later a son Jacob from his third wife Aaltje Jacobs on 20 November 1791, just before the death of his father Roelf Rotgers (about 1792). To help you in this choas of names: Roelf Rotgers was a half-brother of Anje Pieters. Marie Mieke Tietema: birth registered September 23, 1833 in Appingedam. Albert Luitjes Tietema: birth registered November 18, 1839 in ... The birth record of Albert Stoffers (van Dijk) Nov. 13, 1746 in Tjamsweer: In the churchbook of Tjamsweer was written in 1746: The 13 november [*is] baptized the little Son of Stoffer Berents and Grietje Duirts, who is named at the H[*oly] Baptizing Albert. [*Note A.G.: Now we know the names of the grandparents of Martje Alberts van Dijk!] BAPTISMS
From the Meedhuizen birth, death and marriage church books: (Note: According to Albert, the Dutch tended to baptize their children when they were quite young, so the baptism dates are usually pretty near to their actual birth dates.) On 15 Oct 1741, Knellis, the son of Jan Knellis (here meant as Kornellis) and Stijnje Jelles On 19 Dec 1745 Aefke, the daughter of Jan Cornelis and Stijnje Jelles (Note A.G.: she must have died in infancy before May 17, 1750, because on that day, a second daughter Afke was baptized.) On 29 Jan 1758 Aaltien (Note A.G.: Old Dutch for Aaltje), daughter of Jan Cornelis On 30 May 1723 a daughter of Harm Jacobs and Wopke [*or Wupke] Cornellijs, and named Geeske. (Note A.G.: Possibly a relation to Jan Conrnellis and Stijnje Jelles) On 11 November 1725 a Son of Peter Jans and Epke Cornellijs, named Peter. [*Note A.G.: dito?] On 13 March 1726 a Daughter of Scholte Cornellijs and Folke Eltjes, named Annigin. [*Note A.G.: dito?]. On 4 December 1763 the little Daughter of Knellis Jans and Grietie Freeks and named Stinje. [*Note A.G.: Knellis Jans is the eldest son of Jan Cornellis and Stijnje Jelles]. On 1 January 1765 the little son of Knellijs Jans and Grietie Freeks and named Jan. On 3 January 1768 the little Daughter of Knellis Jans and Grietie Freeks and named Aallie. [*Note A.g.: old Dutch for the name Aaltje]. On 16 February(?) 1772 the little Daughter of Kornellys Jans and Grietie Hindriks, named Stijnje. [*Note A.G.: here the church book writer probably made a mistake in calling Grietie Freeks "Grietie Hindriks"; or else her spouse Kornellis Jans must have remarried to a second wife Grietie, but now with the surname Hindriks??]. On 23 March 1777 the little daughter of Jan Jans and Anje Jans and named Stijntje. [*Note A.G.: Anje Jans was the daughter of Jan Cornellis and Stijnje Jelles]. On 30 January 1780, Jan Ennes, the little son of Jan Jans and Anje Jans. On 5 December 1784, the daughter of Jan Jans and Anje Jans, named Bouwchien. 2 May 1790 Aaltje, daughter of Jan Jans and Anje Jans, Married People, by G. Palmer, minister in Opwierda. Birth records in the Siddeburen churchbooks of the children of Derk Eppes: 10 [*November?] 1717 in Siddeburen a little son of Derk Eppes and Lijsabeth Geerts and is named .... [*Note A.G.: Here is unfortunately no name listed, while the minister or church-warden later seemed forgotten? And maybe even that the "little son" had to be a "little daughter", like Pieter Blink [Genealogical researcher] gave this born child the name of Jantje Derks, the later full mother of Anje Pieters?]. 21 October 1713 is baptized the little Daughter of Derk Eppes and Lijsebet Geerts [*living] in the Eastern [*part of] Tiughum [*= Tjuchem] and is named Pieterke. The 5 January 1716 is baptized the little son of Derck Eppes and Lijsebeth Geerts of the Eastern Tiugum and is named Geert. The 27 April 1710 is baptized the son of Derk Eppes and Lijsebeth Geerts, with the Name Klaas. The 29 May 1708 is baptized the son of Derck Eppes and Lijsebet Geerts with the Name Geert. The 9 January 1698 is baptized the child of Derk Eppes and Hike Jans [*??] and named Geert. The 14 October 1694 is baptized by the H.[*onourable]. Stam the little son of Derk Eppes and Hijcke Claesen and named Claes. [*Note A.G.: In the last two records is spoken about the two different surnames Jans(?) and Claesen according to Derk Eppes' first wife. I guess that the last one must be her correct surname. Second: it's clear now that Hijlke Claasen was Derk's first wife, Lijsabeth Geerts his second and Geeske Ro(e)bers the last one. Totally three times, just like his granddaughter Anje Pieters!] From the Opwierda birth, death, and marriage church books: On 26 May 1771 Trijntje, daughter of Hugo Cornelis and Grietje Derks. [*Note A.G.: this Trijntje Huges later married "our" Jan Jans Mulder; if her father Hugo, with also the surname Cornelis, was related by his surname to Jan Cornellis I am unsure and has to be researched later]. On 10 June 1769 the little son of Hugo Cornelis (Smit) and Grietje Derks, named Derk. [*Note A.G.: that extra surname means that Hugo Cornelis had the profession of black smith?]. On 3 January 1773, the daughter Martie of Hugo Cornelis Smit and Grietie Derks. [*Note A.G.: "Martie" means also "Martje"]. 29 September 1776, Cornelis, son of Huge Cornelis and Grietien Derks. Batipzing records from the Opwierde churchbook of the couple Jan Jans and Trijntje Hu(i)ges:
[*Note A.G.: between 1806 and 1810 no further births found of this couple]. Baptizing records of the Meedhuizen churchbooks according the couple Jan Cornellis and Stijnje Jelles:
