BICKSLER
Mary Elizabeth BICKSLER -- Paper Unknown
Mary Elizabeth Bicksler was born in Erie county, New York June 18th, 1824. She was married
to Noah Ferris in Erie county, New York, April 4th, 1844.
Mrs. Ferris moved to Genesco county, Michigan immerdiately after their marriage they lived
there 16 years. They then moved to Kendall county, Ill., making Illinois their home until 1879 when they
removed to Woodson county, Kansas where Mr. Ferris died Jan. 22, 1883, after which she made her home
with her son Otis, until 1893 when she went to Michigan to assist in the case of her aged mother, who
was 98 years of age at the time of her death.
In 1895, she returned to Allen Co., Kans., making her home with her son, Otis. In 1896
her son, henry's wife dieing, she took charge of his two youngest children, whom she cared for until
the time of her death.
Mrs. Ferris died Jan. 4, 1902 at the age of 77 years, 6 months, and 16 days.
She joined the M.E. church at an early age living a consistant christian life all these years.
During her brief illness she was never heard to murmur or complain but was ever thoughtfull of
her attendants and friends. She passed from life to that world where sickness and death is
unknown, so while we stand beside her bier smote with grief all is not darkness for we feel
sure that though she sleeps it is not forever.
The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church, Rev.'s Manley and Mitchell officiating.
