Information for Visiting Researchers
Todd County is still primarily rural farm land. The
County Seat of Elkton retains its historic charm. The Old Court House
is located on the square, for locating records you'll find the new court
house behind the hardware store.
Now that you've decided to visit, you'll need somewhere to stay. Unfortunately there aren't accommodations in Todd County, you will probably want to stay in Hopkinsville, Christian County or Clarksville, Montgomery County, TN. I've included a list of my personal choices below. Highway 68 runs from Hopkinsville to Elkton, about a 20 minute drive. This also takes you right past the Jefferson Davis Monument. You can see it towering above the town of Fairview from miles away. Watch out for the small black horse drawn buggies of the Mennonites as you travel the roads. An area map will help you quickly locate Guthrie, Trenton, however some of the smaller communities may not be listed. Just ask any of the old timers sitting on their porches, waving as you go by. Mostly Interstate, its about 1 1/2 hour drive to Todd County from the nearest airport, Nashville, TN. Accommodations:
Econo Lodge
Holiday Inn
Rodeway Inn
