Koch is called to her Final Rest Early Last Sunday Mrs. John W. Koch passed away Sunday morning, after an illness which had afflicted her for the past ten years, but which she had endured with great fortitude. Her illness was diagnosed as tuberculosisis of the spine and when she underwent an operation at Rochester, Minn., nine years ago, she was told that no medical aid could be given her. She expressed a wish at that time that she might be permitted to live until her children should reach a more mature years, and since then she has been substained by an all-powerful belief in the Supreme Being who has granted that wish. Her youngest child is now 13 years of age, and when Mrs. Koch realized that the end was near she said she was no ready to go to her heavenly home. Throughout her long illness she was a patient suffered, buoyed up by her enduring faith, and always ready to look upon the bright side of life. She was always devoted to her husband and family who will bear with them the memory of a loving wife and mother. Elizabeth Seekatz Koch was born at Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin on July 9, 1878, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Seekatz. She came to Cedar County about 35 years ago, and was married to John W. Koch at Hartington on January 28, 1896. Seven children were born to this union, one of them passing away in infancy. She leaves to mourn her going her husband, three sons, three daughters, five grandchildren, and a host of friends. The sons are Allen of Newcastle and Dale and Minor of Hartington. The daughters are Mrs. Louis Sorenson of Newcastle, Mrs. Elmo Dreesen of Hartington and Helen of Hartington. She is also survived by a brother, John C. Seekatz, of Sioux City, and two sisters, Mrs. August Libt of Bristow, Nebraska and Mrs. M. Bird of Newcastle. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Congregational Church at Hartington and were conducted by Rev. George Comstock of Sioux City, and Rev. Louis Hieb, Pastor of the church here. Comfort in song was brot by a quartet composed of Mrs. I.A. Miller, Mrs. C.R. McDonald, and the misses Doris and Maxine Miller, with Mrs. S.H. Morten at the piano. Burial was in the Hartington Cemetery.
