I have just found a document in my husband's mother's effects telling of the Brugh family
of Fremont, Neb. In particular, it tells of Elijah G. Brugh and A. G. Brugh.
Photographs of both of them made in 1863 are included in the material. Elijah G.
Brugh came to Dodge County in the spring of 1863. He purchased a team consisting of
two yoke of oxen and "went to freighting" across the plains to Denver, Laramie,
and other points in the west. He followed this for four years. Later, he was one of
the representative farmers of Elkhorn township, his farm located on Section 32.
My mother in law was Louise Ludwig, daughter of Emma Ann Brugh Ludwig, daughter of
Andrew G. Brugh. I would like to share this information with others who are
interested. I do not have a date for the narrative nor an author's name.

My ancestors, the Millars, settled North Bend in 1856. We've read a lot about
them in the past issues of the North Bend Eagle on microfilm. In one article, it
mentioned a group photo being taken by George Armstead. I know he was the photographer in
N. Bend, and we have a photo in our possession with his name at the bottom. I was
wondering if any of Mr.
Armstead's negatives are still in existence, and if family members could have prints made
from them (for a fee, I assume).
Thank you,

I am searching for information on my father, Ambrose Kearns, who enlisted in the National
Guard in Fremont, Nebraska in March, 1917, after his discharge from the Army, he returned
to Fremont and enlisted in the Navy in May, 1918. At this time he may have been living
with his foster sister in Fremont. Her name may have been Helen Cassidy, and the address
given on the Navy enlistment form was 1426 Main St., Fremont, Nebraska. Ambrose was
placed out with a Mrs. Agnes Cassidy, in Inman Township, Holt County, Nebraska, at
the age of three years and was with her until Dec. 1913. The records of the New York
Foundling Hospital state that he was thought to be in Fremont in 1920 with his foster
sister. Other members of the Cassidy family in 1910 were Helen, age 19, listed as a
daughter, Thomas , age 17, listed as a son, and Lawrence, age 10, who I believe was my
father. I would appreciate any information, such as obits, concerning the people who lived

Hospital placed out children and will be glad to look up names in the census for anyone
who has an interest in finding anyone who was a
