Ferry Franchise, Nebraska City. Editorial The legislation complained of will not affect the Ferry Company nor the right of the company vested in the Ferry at all. The present company ownes three-fourths of whatever the legislation gives to anybody and are bound in writing not to set up any claim to the franchise of the ferry under the charter of the South Nebraska Railroad Company nor under any other authority than that of the County Commissioners of Otoe County, to whom they pay a yearly rental of $500.00 To quiet the nerves of the Press we assure him that Col. Pearnan, who was indicted for "plundering the country of its resources" and has been, ever since, the recipient of newspaper puffs and other favors at the hands of the Radical Party, is not Treasurer of Otoe County. We think it will not be plundered "as much as it was." We have more confidence in the present efficient Treasurer of this county than in the statement of our contemporary. We are ready to prove 'plunder" of Otoe County upon a the only Radical Treasurer it ever was disgraced by, whenevrr the times demand it or anybody denies the fact.
