Freighting Dissatisfaction as to the contract of A. J. Gill for carrying the government freight on routes No. 1 & 2 to the different military posts on the plains at exceedingly low figures - prices which our freighters think would bankrupt any man. No town on the Missouri river contains more freighters than Nebraska City and all express themselves "that they will not carry a pound of freight unless they receive living prices and good security that their pay will be forthcoming on completion of the work. The amount of freight to be shipped this year westward, exceeds by many million pounds that of last year, and the number of freighters and cattle in the country very materially less. It is reported the contract has been awarded to Mr. Gill at $1.30, a price sub-contractors could not afford to take it at. On account of the scarcity of cattle, help and low prices, we look for a panic in the freighting camp about June.
