Graft and Corruption | Senatorial Campaign. J N. H Patrick came to Lincoln last winter with a large amount of money for the purpose of buying his way into the U. S . Senate. Speaker Towle was purchased for $10,000. Representative Howe received $3000. A. B. Smith of Plattsmouth was sent for to buy Rep. John Barns. J. N. H. Patrick had his money and his bonds displayed in his rooms at the Tichenar hotel. ($100,000). Rep Brown was offered $2,000 to stay away from the capital on a certain day. Last summer J. N. H. Patrick arranged a meeting of prominent politicians in Council Bluffs for the next U. S. enatorial canvas. He is pipe laying now for another campaign. Clipping from Kearney Press. |
