Columbus, Nebr., May 10, 1926.

The State Advocate, John Gross, rendered a verbal report of his official acts, which was adopted on motion of Phillip Tomek of David City.

A verbal report by State Warden Dr. J. C. Tighe of Madison was adopted on motion.

At this time Acting State Chaplain Rev. Anton Link of Sidney addressed the convention in lieu of the Chaplain's report which, on account of the absence through illness of the Rt. Rev. Monsignor Dunphy, was not available.

     The convention adjourned at 4 p. m.

THIRD SESSION

Following a solemn Mass of Requiem for the deceased members of the order, which was attended by the delegates in a body, the State Council re-assembled at 10:15 a. m., May 11, with State Deputy Wm. M. Whelan presiding.

The password was taken up by the State Warden and his assistants and prayer was offered by Acting State Chaplain Father Link.

The State Secretary then rendered his report, which on motion of J. H. Barry of Wahoo was adopted.

Report of State Secretary, 1925-1926

Worthy State Deputy and Members of the State Council:
The report on membership herewith submitted shows a net loss in membership for the past year of 112 members. The fact that there is a discrepancy between these figures and those of last year is due to the change in the fiscal year, created by the adoption of the revised by-laws during the year. My figures are based upon the annual report of the Financial Secretaries of the subordinate councils, some of whom reported for the entire year and others of whom reported for the period since the last State Council meeting. This difficulty will be obviated by the use of the new annual report form which will be rendered as of January first each year.
In as much as the new by-laws had not been approved by the Supreme Board of Directors on July 1st and were consequently not in force, no effort was made to collect the semi-annual installment of the per capita tax. The entire levy was therefore made January 1st this year. These by-laws are now in force and the first installment of the tax for the coming year will become due on July 1st and will be payable within sixty days.
I take this opportunity to thank the worthy State Deputy and other state officers for their constant courtesy and to express my appreciation of the co-operation given me by the officers of subordinate councils in their dealings with my office.

Respectfully submitted,
EDMUND C. ZIMMERER, State Secretary.
