Caldwell, a postoffice recently established in Scotts Bluff county.
Collins, a rural postoffice in the northwestern part of Scotts Bluff county, near the Wyoming line.

Gering is situated a short distance south of the North Platte river in the central part of Scotts Bluff county, and has a population of about 300. Located in the midst of a fine farming country with a pure healthful atmosphere, about 5000 feet above the level of the sea. The town has grown rapidly of late. During 1889 a number of fine brick buildings were erected. Irrigation is rapidly developing the agricultural resources of the surrounding country. The Wyoming and Nebraska Water Supply co., have irrigating ditches in the vicinity of Gering. A canal some 60 miles in length, crossing the entire county, is to be constructed. The nearest railway stations are Kimball on the U. P. Ry., and Alliance on the Newcastle branch of the B. & M. R. R., some 40 miles distant each from Gering.

Baxter P N, hardware, genl mdse.Mitchell, a postoffice in the central part of Scotts Bluff county, eight miles northwest of Gering. The Mitchell Irrigating Canal Co. are about to enlarge the capacity of the canal from Wyoming to this vicinity, which greatly assists in the development of this section of country.
