PREFACE.
The favor with which the "Legislative Manual" for 1887 was received, and the growing demand for a still more elaborate and comprehensive work, has induced the publishers to add greatly to that work in the preparation of the present volume. The additions bring the work to such dimensions, and the range of subjects embracing the most complete compilation of political and statistical Information ever published concerning our State, justifies the new title of "Nebraska Blue Book." The publishers believe that the work will compare favorably with many of the "Blue Books" of older slates, yet admit that there is still room for improvement, which will be made in future issues. The work is designed especially for the use of officers of the various departments of the state government, officers and members of the legislature, public libraries, ate., but will also prove of great advantage to every citizen of the State who desires to keep track of its political history. The new features added this year are: More elaborate election statistics, including the popular vote for president in Nebraska since the organization of the state government; congressional election statistics by districts, since the division of the State into districts. Popular and electoral vote for president in the United Stales by states, for 1880, 1884, and 1888, and the State election returns for 1887 and 1888. A complete judicial directory, including the U, S. supreme and circuit courts, U, S. circuit and district courts for Nebraska; Nebraska supreme court and the district courts of Nebraska, showing the counties belonging to each district. Valuable tables showing the capital stock, debt, cost, earnings, and operating expenses of the various railroads of the State for a period of four years. Statistics concerning the schools, school lands and funds of the State; a complete list of the Stale institutions, their officers, etc.; a list of the various State boards; a complete list of the county officer of the State; and a compilation of Jefferson's Manual so far as applicable to the legislative practice of the State.
NOTE: This manual is only partially published here, and is presented mostly as images.
Reason: small book, unreliable character recognition.
The booklet measures just 3.5 x 7 inches, the print is tiny!
