THE NEBRASKA GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY will be glad to consider for Publication in the Nebraska and Midwest Genealogical Record

FIRST. Manuscript genealogical records of family lines including record of the original settler in America and the first five succeeding generations of his descendants, provided such material has not been completely published elsewhere, or where such material is a correction of matter previously published. References to printed authorities, giving volume and page should when possible accompany such material.

SECOND. Manuscript genealogical records of the last four or five generations, accompanied by a transcription of Bible records or tombstone inscriptions to substantiate the dates of birth, death and marriage.

THIRD. Verified church records including vital records of births, baptisms, marriages, deaths and burials.

FOURTH. Verified transcriptions of old burying ground inscriptions.

FIFTH. Verified transcriptions of old wills, provided they have not previously published elsewhere.

MOFFITT FAMILY

The following is an exact copy of a manuscript written by Joseph and Mary Moffitt and furnished by Mr. George Knight of the Citizens Bank of University Place, Nebr. The manuscript was accompanied by affidavits from Margery Moffitt Hickman and her husband, Samuel Hickman, proving the record.

Isyphenia now we are a going to give thee an account of our relatives  My Fathers name was Hugh moffitt an my mothers name was Hannah Davis the daughter of Charles Davis that come from england  my fathers brothers names are James William Adam Charles Robert John and Patrick  these are the names of my mothers Brothers and sisters Thomas John Elizabeth Sarah Mary Abigal and tamar my father was raised in the north part of Irland and his fathers name was Robert Moffitt and he married a woman by the name of Margaret Stewart The family of Moffitts formerly lived in Scotland  At a place that is known by the name of Moffitts  well these are the names of my brothers and sisters Robert John Joshua Charles Jeremiah and nathan Ruth hannah and Mary  my brothers and sisters was all raised in Chatham county north Carolina

My Aunts on my mothers side Elizabeth married A vestal  Sarah married a Cox Mary married a Moffitt tamar married A Cox Abigal married ausbarn.

I was born in 1776 I will be 77 the 16 day of November

My Fathers name is Thomas ward  my mothers name is Margery piggott the daughter of william piggott and Sarah pike my Fathers Father was Joel ward and his mother was nancy Ross I do not know where they was borned and raised but they lived in north Carolina  My father had one own sister and three half sisters And one half Brother by the name of Joel ward  his sister name is Sarah and she married A John Smith And the (sic) lived in north Carolina and his half sister Nancy married A Wright peggy married a Slaughter Polly married a starret  my mothers brothers John Jerremiah Samuel william. piggott and mothers sisters Abagil married Mc pherson Sarah an elliot Mary a Balding and lived in Philadelpiha

   SYLVANUS6 SAMPSON (Sylvanus,5 Thomas,4 Benjamin,3 George, 2 Abraham1), born about 1773 in Plymouth. died about 1875; oldest child of Sylvanus and Mary (Wright) Sampson who were married Feb. 20, 1772. He married (1) in 1800 Ruth Burgess, oldest child of William and Lucia (Sampson) Burgess, born between date of marriage of her parents Mch. 10, 1783, (Duxbury Records p. 300) and date of their 2nd child Abner born July 28, 1785 (Duxbury Records p. 38). See Ancient Landmarks of Plymouth, Davis, pp. 50 and 228 for list of children of these two families. Sylvanus Sampson married (2) in August 1825 Tirzah Doty. The children of Sylvanus and Ruth (Burgess) Sampson were:
