ANNIE DEGROFF (Melvina White9) was born Dec. 18, 1856, and died June 17, 1894. Married March 20, 1873, William Smith in Poughkeepsie, N. Y., born May 15, 1853, at Millbrook, N. Y., and died at Poughkeepsie March 2, 1919. Children:

MARIA ELIZABETH EMIGH (Daniel H.9) was born Apr. 17, 1824. She is buried at Halls Corners, near Ballston, N. Y. Married March 9, 1842, Rensselaer Hall, brother of Eliza Hall, who married William W. Emigh. Rensselaer Hall was born March 31, 1820, son of Seneca Hall and Rachel Hall (no relation) at Malta, Saratoga Co., N. Y. He died Aug. 4, 1877, at Halls Comers and is buried there. He was a farmer and railroad contractor. The old Hall homestead stands on Malta Ridge facing Saratoga Lake, about a mile distant. After his death his widow married Aug. 9, 1880, Jacob I. New and lived at Chatham, N. Y. Children:

CAROLINE EMIGH (Daniel H.9) married James Paterson, born Jan. 26, 1826, died Mar. 23, 1886, probable son of John Paterson, born April 1, 1796, died July 3, 1845, (buried near James in Halls Comers Cemetery). (Elsewhere in this issue are other closely associated cemetery records copied by John E. Hall of Rensselaer, N. Y.) Children:

MARY ANN EMIGH (William W.9) was born March 11, 1845. Married Feb. 24, 1876, Titus D. Allen, born Nov. 21, 1837, died Oct. 19, 1905, son of Humphrey Allen and Jane Rushmore. Lived until Dec., 1905, on the Emigh homestead at Malta, N. Y., then moving to North Adams, Mass., where she resided in 1926 at 55 Quincy St. She has many keepsakes from the White, Hall and Emigh families. There were no children.
JOHN H. EMIGH (William W.9) was born Nov. 19, 1850, at Malta, N. Y., and died Jan. 6, 1910, at North Adams, Mass. He married Mar. 3, 1880, Emma Fleta Bell Allen, born Jan. 13, 1858. She lived in 1925 at Balston Spa, N. Y. He was a graduate of Albany State Normal College and later entered Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at Troy, N. Y., from which he graduated in 1879 with the degree of Civil Engineer. After several shorter engagements he became a member of the faculty of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1894, where he remained until 1896, resigning at that time to become city engineer of North Adams, Mass. This position he held until 1903 when he established a private engineering practice at that place. He was active in church (Baptist) and community affairs and much respected by all who knew him. MARY HALL WHITE (William Aitken White9) was born July 16, 1841, at Dover Furnace, Dutchess Co., N. Y. She married June 20, 1875, at Dover Furnace, Isaac W. White (see page 303 October, 1926, issue), a cousin of her father, whom she survived thirteen years. She died January 29, 1916, at their home at 1391 Dean St., Brooklyn, N. Y., and is buried beside her husband at Poughkeepsie. She was educated at the Nine Partners Quaker Boarding School near Mechanicsville, N. Y. One child:

HARRISON ROGERS (Eunice White9, Isaac White8, William A.7, Abner6) was born Feb. 17, 1841, in Dutchess County, N. Y. Remained there until about 20 years of age, when he moved to Kewanee, Ill., where some other cousins had moved. He engaged in the hardware business, living there four or five years, when he went to Carver, Minn. After two years he returned to Kewanee and stayed there two years, when he went to Farragut, Ia., in the spring of 1870 and engaged in farming. He was connected for a time with the bank of Farragut as cashier. Was also a member of the mercantile firm of Crosser & Rogers for many years. Later he was cashier of the First National Bank. He was married Nov. 15, 1877, to Louisa C. Coy at Abingdon, Ill. She was born March 30, 1850, the daughter of Urban D. Coy, born Sept. 14, 1810, died Feb. 10, 1876, and Susan P. Latimer, born July 19, 1817, died Sept. 25, 1884, married Nov. 21, 1833. "Harry" Rogers died in 1924 and his wife died Jan. 26, 1918. Both are buried at Farragut, Ia. Children:

JAMES HENRY BALDWIN (Eunice White9, Isaac8, William A.7, Abner6) was born Aug. 14, 1853, at Kewanee, Ill. Educated at Aurora College, Aurora, Ill. Married at Solomon, Kans., to Elizabeth Hope Rogers, born July 16, 1859, at Markesan, Green Lake Co., Wis. She was educated at Manhattan College, Manhattan, Kans. He was a stock broker in Chicago for years. He was an expert farmer and at the the time of his death was the manager and overseer of a large farm in New York. He died at White Plains, N. Y., Oct. 8, 1917. Is buried in Kusco Cemetery four miles from White Plains.

EDWARD HUBBARD WHITE (Abraham Cline White9) was born Oct. 22, 1848, at Weathersfield, (near Kewanee) Ill., where he grew to manhood. In 1869 he made his first trip to Atchison County, Mo,, where his father had purchased land. He and his brother assisted in the farming, both in Illinois and Missouri, one of them staying in Illinois with the mother, who was not in good health. He married Dec. 21, 1872, Adaline Muinch at Rockport, Mo., and has lived there continuously ever since. In 1847 he bought open prairie land at $10.00 an acre. On this land he built his home. In 1882 the town of Fairfax was laid out and he has been associated with it as an officer and director ever since. His wife was born July 18, 1852, in Saxony, Germany, coming, with her parents, to America when she was one year old. The trip was made in a sail boat and they were nine weeks on the water. Her parents, Gottlieb Frederick Muinch and Matilda Kountze, settled in Osnaburg, Ohio, where she grew to womanhood. In 1871 her family bought a farm at Rockport Mo., where Muinch spent the remainder of his days. He was born July 30, 1826, and came to America when he twenty-seven. He was third in a family of eight. His parents were Carl Frederick and and Caroline Hannah Muinch. Matilda Kountze Muinch was born July 15, 1830. She was one of sixteen children, whose parents were August and Hannah Geisler Kountze. The children reaching adult age and remaining in Germany were Emil, a professor of English, Ida and Adaline. Those who came to America were Pauline (married Radell) and Matilda. Two of her father's brothers also came to this country; John Kountze (not married) and Christian Kountze, whose children were: August of New York, Herman of Omaha, Charles, Luther, William, Kate, Matilda, Adaline, Clementine, Margaret and Mary. Children, all born at Fairfax, Mo.:

It was a double wedding, Sarah White and Albinus Nance being married at the same time. Married 2nd Elizabeth Copley Dec. 11, 1899, at Riverside, Cal. Children of first marriage:

FRANKLIN WHITE (Egbert White9) was born Nov. 1, 1848, at Beekman, N. Y. Moved with his parents to Kewanee, Ill., in 1850 and to Farragut, Ia., in 1870. Married Jan. 29, 1874, Emma Swarts at Clarinda, Ia. She was born Feb. 22, 1851, at Abingdon, Ill. Her father was one of the colony that founded that town, emigrating from North Abingdon, Mass. (Swarts pedigree elsewhere) Frank White was a farmer near Shenandoah, Ia., for a number of years, later being associated with banks at Lyons, Nebr., and Faulkton, S. D. In later years he devoted his attention to mining, being interested in the vicinity of Cripple Creek, Colo. He died at Clarinda, Ia., Aug. 6, 1909, and is buried at Farragut, Ia. Children, all born at or near Shenandoah, Ia.:

WILLIAM AITKEN WHITE (Egbert White9) was born Dec. 17, 1851, at Weathersfield, near Kewanee, Ill. Married Sept. 11, 1873, at Manti, Page Co., Ia., Frances Emily Wilcox, daughter of a pioneer Latter Day Saints family of the colony that emigrated there from the vicinity of Evanston, Ind. Her father was the first postmaster at Manti. She died at Los Angeles, Cal., Jan. 15, 1925. Her husband died Sept. 21, 1922, at The Palms, Cal. Children:

SARAH WHITE (Egbert White9) was born Aug. 20, 1854, at Weathersfield, Ill. Married Sept. 30, 1875, Albinus, at a double wedding, James R, White and Ruth M. Caldwell being married at the same time, at the home of Egbert White at Farrgut, Ia. In 1927 she lives at Hollywood, Cal., having a cottage on Nickels Canon Road, and also a residence at 1147 Lura St., Pasadena. Albinas Nance was one of the pioneer governors of the state of Nebraska, being known as "the boy governor". He was scarcely thirty years of age when elected. One child:
