Members of the Society or
contributors to the RECORD are urged to be
on the lookout for old Bible records. Such records are frequently
destroyed, and are then lost forever. It takes but a few minutes
to copy such records, and once they are in print it is practically
impossible to destroy them, and hence they are handed on for
posterity. Few Bibles contain as voluminous records as those
printed above, but any record is worth publishing regardless of
its brevity. So the Editor expresses the hope that the readers of
the RECORD will send him such records as
they have.
Grave yard inscriptions are also
valuable. Whenever you are on a genealogical quest and you have
occasion or time to copy the inscriptions in a graveyard, it is to
be hoped that you will send a copy of them to the Editor for
publication. Many a genealogical puzzle has been solved by a
tombstone record, and many more would be solved if we could have
more cemetery records published. Moreover, tombstones have a way
of falling down and becoming buried. Others are broken and the
pieces scattered. Copy inscriptions while they are still
extant.
* Miss Eleanor Duffield, who supplied these Bible records, was the daughter of Amos and Elizabeth Dillar (Castleman) Duffield. It should also be recorded that the late W. W. W. Jones, sometime superintendent of schools, Lincoln, Nebraska, was a descendant of Joshua Jones.
