BOOK REVIEWS

Odell Genealogy. By Minnie A. Lewis Pool (Mrs. Sherman Ira Pool), Waverly, Ia. Pub. by Emery A. Odell, 1935, Monroe, Wis. 106 pp. and Introduction, 13 pp. Price, $3.00.

This neat little book is a record of the descendants of Joseph5 Odell, of Dutchess County, New York, who with his sons settled in Lower Canada in 1795. In tracing out the various branches of the family, many documents are given verbatim. To any genealogist who has to trace lines of descent through Canada, this book will repay careful study, for the author makes it plain where records are located and how they may be secured. Much concerning the pioneer life of the time is incorporated in this record. A little space is devoted to the Lewis, Loomer & Manning families. In the few pages which give the ancestry of Joseph5 Odell, the author has placed too great dependence on older works, some of which contain serious errors. Unfortunately there is no index.
