George Wightman of Quidnessett, R. I. (1632-1721/2) and Descendants. Compiled by Mary Ross Whitman. Chicago, Ill. 1939. 404 pp. + appendix, 28 pp. + index, 44 pp.
In the male line George1 Wightman is the ancestor of numerous descendants. The spelling and pronunciation of the surname has resulted in several variations from the original, one of the best known being Whitman. It has been the policy of the compiler to include an account of the Wightman women who married into other families, thus adding greatly to the value of the volume. This genealogy shows every evidence of painstaking and scholarly research. It is fully documented and excerpts from numerous original records are included. Heartily recommended to genealogical libraries.
