Church at York. She was formerly state chairman of the Rural Department of the Parent-Teacher Association, is chairman of the Junior Red Cross at York, and a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She is a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Nebraska Woman's Educational Club, the national social science honor society of pi Gamma Mu, and a member of the Nebraskana Society. Elmo Russell Anderson

Elmo Russell Anderson, manager and part owner of a leading grocery store at York, has lived in this state for 11 years and is prominent in civic organizations there. He was born at Ottumwa, Iowa, February 3, 1900, the son of Loran Clare and Alma Idella (Johns) Anderson. His father, whose ancestry was Scotch-Irish and Dutch, was born at Bloomington, Illinois, June 2, 1871, and died at York, October 29, 1928. His mother was born of Scotch-Irish and Welsh parentage at Moulton, Iowa, February 16, 1874.

Mr. Anderson attended rural schools in Iowa, and in 1921, was graduated from the high school at Cambridge, Nebraska, where he was active in basketball. He was graduated from the York Business College in 1922. He entered the business world in the employ of the Allied Union Store Company, and almost immediately was made manager of the local organization. He remained in that capacity until 1924, when he bought a half interest in the business.

He is a member of the board of the York County Commercial Club, holds membership in the Rotary Club at York, and is affiliated with the York Church of Christ. He is a member of the Masons, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Young Men's Christian Association, and the Nebraskana Society. His favorite sport is fishing.

On May 7, 1925, he was united in marriage with Hazel Irene Larkin, at Sidney, Iowa. Mrs. Anderson, who was a bookkeeper before her marriage, was born at Tacoma, Washington, July 5, 1906, of Irish and English parentage. They have a son, James, born May 27, 1926. Residence: York.


Emil Anderson

Emil Anderson, retired farmer of Minden, Nebraska, has lived in that community for the past 55 years and has been outstanding in business and civic affairs. He was born in Sweden, September 14, 1868, the son of Gustaf Victor and Mary (Johnson) Anderson, the former a farmer who was born in Sweden, October 31, 1835, and died at Minden, May 23, 1906. He came from Sweden to Swedesburg, Iowa, about 1868, and returned there about 1871. In 1873, he returned to Nebraska, homesteading where Emil Anderson now resides. His mother was born in Sweden, August 30, 1835, and died at Minden, February 7, 1908.

Mr. Anderson is president of the Kearney County Mutual Insurance Company, is president of the Kearney County Co-operative Creamery, is a director and vice president of the Motala Elevator Company, is a director in the Farmers Elevator Company of Minden, and a stockholder and director in the First National Bank of Minden. A Democrat, he served as a member of the Nebraska Legislature, as a member of the house of representatives 1925, 1931, in both regular and special sessions. He is a trustee of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Axtell, Nebraska, is a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, and holds membership in the Nebraskana Society.

His marriage to Selma Anderson occurred at Minden, April 19, 1913. Mrs. Anderson was born in Sweden, September 19, 1874. Their son, Carl, was born September 1, 1917, and died September 9, 1917. Residence: Minden.


Ira C. Anderson

Born at Gothenburg, Nebraska, August 24, 1883, Ira C. Anderson is the son of Harriet Elizabeth (Munns) and William Glover Anderson, the latter a distinguished leader in political and civic affairs in his community. The father, born at Fairfield, Indiana, December 28, 1852, died at Wood River, Nebraska, May 28, 1916. He was a pioneer farmer in Nebraska and later engaged in business as a furniture dealer; he received his education at Hartville College, was in the police service for a time, and during his residence in Nebraska served as state representative, a member of the United States Rifle Guard, and the school board; his parents came to this country from County Cork, Ireland. His wife, Harriett, whose parentage was Pennsylvania German, was born in Decatur County, Illinois, September 26, 1853, and died at Kearney, June 4, 1926.

Mr. Anderson attended rural school, was a student at Fremont College, Fremont, Nebraska, and studied embalming at the University of Minnesota. He entered the furniture business at Cozad, Nebraska, where he was employed by the Davis Furniture & Undertaking Company, and a little later conducted a similar business of his own at Wood River, Nebraska. For a time he was employed as salesman for the Orchard Wilhelm Company at Omaha, and for the past 12 years has been the owner and active manager of his own business at Kearney, Nebraska.

He is a trustee and active manager of the William F. Crossley Estate. He has been a director of the Chamber of Commerce at Kearney, for the past 11 years, and holds membership in the Nebraska Funeral Directors Society, the National Funeral Directors Association, the Red Cross, and the Kearney Kiwanis Club. His fraternal organizations include the Elks, Masons, and Odd Fellows Lodges, while his social club is the Kearney Country Club. His religious affiliation is with the Methodist Episcopal Church of Kearney; for several years he has held membership in the Young Men's Christian Association and the Boy Scouts of America, acting as director of the latter.

He married Ada Roseline Mercer, who died at Kearney, December 3, 1921. They have one daughter Margaret Elizabeth Anderson, born December 20, 1915, who is at the present time a student in the Corvallis High School. On June 19, 1924, his marriage to Wilma Ruth Crossley occurred at Kearney. Mrs. Anderson, who was born at Kearney, June 7, 1889, the daughter of W. F. Crossley and Mary A. (Calhoun) Crossley, was graduated from the University of Nebraska, and before her marriage was a school teacher and business woman. Residence: Kearney. (Photograph in Album).


Oscar Bennett Anderson

Oscar B. Anderson was born at Davis, Illinois, October 1, 1889, the son of Olus and Bertha (Matsen) Anderson. His father, who is a farmer, was born at ChristianIa, Norway, in 1855. His mother was born at Christiania, October 1, 1854.

Mr. Anderson was graduated from the high school at Webb, Iowa, attended the University of Nebraska, and was a student at the Chicago and Lake Geneva Young Men's Christian Association during the summer months.

He entered Young Men's Christian Association work at Evansville, Wisconsin, in 1909, and was physical director for this organization at Columbus, 1909-14. Since 1914, he has been connected with the Lincoln Young Men's Christian Association as director of physical education. He is a member of the National Physical Directors' Society and the Optimists' Club at Lincoln. He is a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner.

During the World War he served overseas for eleven months at Base Hospital Unit Number 49, Verdun Sector. He is a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and is affiliated with Grace Lutheran Church at Lincoln. His social club is the Shrine Country Club. He is independent politically. Residence: Lincoln.

Permelia Anderson

Permelia Anderson was born at Balingslof, Sweden, August 6, 1848, the daughter of Peter and Permelia (Matson) Johnson, and for the past 57 years has been a resident of Nebraska. Her father, who was born in Sweden, December 25, 1823, and died at Stromsburg, Nebraska, July 1, 1898, was a farmer. Her mother was born in Sweden, February 15, 1821, and died at Stromsburg, August 22, 1889.

Mrs. Anderson received her education in the public schools of Lafayette, Illinois. She is a member of the Nebraskana Society, the Red Cross, and St. Edward's Methodist Episcopal Church. Her chief recreations are reading and needlework. Politically, she is a Republican.

She was married to John M. Anderson at Columbus, Nebraska, December 31, 1875. Mr. Anderson, who was a farmer, was born in Sweden and died in Platte County, Nebraska, January 1, 1909; he served in the Union Army during the Civil War for nearly five years and was honorably discharged as lieutenant at the close of the war. Mrs. Anderson donated liberally to war activities during the World War.

To their marriage the following children were born: George, October 11, 1876, who married Maude Simpson; Gertie, May 26, 1878; Mamie, March 18, 1880; Josie E., January 15, 1882, who died September 5, 1882; and Dana, June 17, 1883, who married Madeline Gorius. George is a farmer, Gertie is librarian, and Dana a salesman. Residence: St. Edward.


Ralph Milton Anderson

Ralph Milton, son of Arthur Marion and Nellie (Workman) Anderson, was born at Tekamah, Nebraska, April 14, 1899. His father, who was born at Oakland, September 21, 1868, a former county clerk of Burt County; was a member of the draft board during the World War, and was in the abstract business for some thirty years. At the present time he is cashier of the Farmers State Bank of Tekamah. He is the son of John P. and Mathilda A. (Shinstrom) Anderson who came to the United States in 1857. They were married and settled at Oakland, as pioneer farmers. Both of them died at Oakland.

Nellie Workman was born at Fairfield, Iowa, February 2, 1870. Her father, W. A. Workman, was born at Fairfield, and her mother, Dora S. Herring, who was born at Saarbuck, Germany, came to America at the age of seven years.

Educated in the Tekamah public schools, Ralph Milton Anderson was graduated from Tekamah High School in 1918, and received his LL. B. from the University of Nebraska in 1923. He is a member of Phi Delta Phi and Phi Gamma Delta, and has served as secretary of the latter. He was married to Dorothea Belinda Thomas at Tekamah, on June 4, 1926. Mrs. Anderson, who was born at Tekamah, May 4, 1898, was the daughter of W. B. and Linnie (Nelson) Thomas, and a granddaughter of George P. Thomas, one of the early settlers of Tekamah.

Mr. Anderson is a Republican, and is serving his second term as county attorney of Burt County. He is engaged in the practice of law and affiliated with the A. M. Anderson Abstract Company at Tekamah. He has taken an active part in the civic development of the city, and has served as secretary of the Chamber of Commerce May 1, 1924, to May 1, 1926, and since May 1, 1927. He was president of the organization from May 1, 1926-May 2, 1927, and has been secretary of the Lions Club since May 1, 1927.

A private of Infantry from October 15, 1918, to December 15, 1918, he is a member of the American Legion. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Order, the Nebraskana Society and the Nebraska State Bar Association. Residence: Tekamah.


Reuben Leonard Anderson

Reuben L. Anderson, a resident of Stromsburg since 1910, has taken an active part in civic and community affairs for many years. He was born at Kiron, Iowa, July 15, 1889, the son of Andrew J. and Betty (Pearson) Anderson. His father, a farmer, was born in Sweden, December 17, 1837, and died at Stromsburg, February 1, 1918. His mother was born in Sweden, February 27, 1852, and died at Stromsburg, April 16, 1931.

Mr. Anderson attended rural school in Iowa, and in 1904 was a student at the Luther Academy at Wahoo, Nebraska. He clerked in the shoe department of a retail store from 1906 to 1910, when he became owner of a shoe store. From 1919 to 1923 he was manager of the insurance and collection department in a law office, and from 1923 to 1929 he was bookkeeper and assistant cashier in a bank. He is now conducting a general insurance agency.

During the World War Mr. Anderson served in a provisional battalion of Guard and Fire Companies at Camp Mills, Long Island, New York, as a private, and later as corporal and sergeant. He is a member of the American Legion and he has served as adjutant of the local post. He has been a member of the city council of Stromsburg, and served as city clerk, 1915-20 and 1923-28. He is a member of the Nebraskana Society is affiliated with the Lutheran Church, and holds membership in the Republican party.

He was united in marriage with Audrey A. Peterson at Stromsburg, April 15, 1919; she was born there May 9, 1891. They have two children: Robert L., born January 26, 1921; and Betty Jean, born September 3, 1922. Residence: Stromsburg.


Roland Max Anderson

Roland M. Anderson was born at Beloit, Mitchell County, Kansas, June 8, 1879, the son of George Wycliffe and Mary (Townsend) Anderson. His father, who was a sergeant in the Union Army in the Civil War, was the owner and publisher of the Beloit Gazette at Beloit, Kansas, and was a member of the legislature in Kansas. His ancestry was Scotch and English; his father invented and built marine steam engines, he was born in Ohio in 1842 and died at Black Rock, Lawrence County, Arkansas, January 14, 1910.

His mother, who was born in Ohio in 1844, was a teacher at Boscabel, Wisconsin, and was a graduate and postgraduate of the New York Chautauqua Academy. Her ancestry was Pennsylvania German. She died at Beloit, September 22, 1924.

Mr. Anderson was graduated from the Beloit High School in 1897. He was awarded his LL. B. at the University of Kansas in 1900, where he was a member of the Green Chapter of Phi Delta Phi, and Sigma Nu. He was admitted to the bar in 1900; was a member of the firm Kagey & Anderson, 1903-17; a member of the firm Foster & Anderson, 1927-29; and since 1929 has been a member of the law firm Sanden, Anderson Laughlin, & Gradwohl. He is a director and general counsel for the Cornbelt Life Insurance Company of Lincoln.

A Republican, Mr. Anderson served as mayor of Beloit; was judge pro tem of the district court of the 12th Judicial Court; was director of the Speakers Bureau of the Nebraska Republican Committee, 1928-30. He was united in marriage with Mary Bangs Findley at Beloit, May 24, 1903. Mrs. Anderson, who was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames, was born at Beloit, September 11, 1882, and died there February 22, 1917. Three children were born to them: Park Findley, August 10, 1905, who married Elma Kokko; Roland Max, born June 6, 1911; and Rosemary, born August 23, 1914. Park was a member of Delta Tau Delta at the University of Kansas and the University of Nebraska; he was a mem-

ber of Phi Delta Phi at George Washington University. Roland was made a member of Sigma Nu at the University of Nebraska.

Mr. Anderson was married to Ruth E. Olson at Lincoln, Nebraska, December 5, 1918; she was graduated from Bethany Linsborg, 1912, studied music for two years at Berlin, and was in lyceum circuit work for two years. She is a member of the Matinee Musicale of Lincoln and Sigma Alpha Iota. She was born at Lincoln, August 10, 1892.

He was a major in the Fourth Kansas Battalion, 1917-18; was made a major at the request of Governor Arthur Capper of Kansas. He was a speaker for the 10th Federal Reserves during the World War. He is a member of the American Bar Association; the Kansas State Bar Association; and the Nebraska State Bar Association. He served as chairman of the Mitchell County Red Cross, 1917, in Kansas. He was a charter member of the Beloit Rotary Club; is a life member of the Kansas Historical Society; and holds membership in The Nebraskana Society. He is a member of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Elks and Odd Fellows, all degrees, and Modern Woodman of America. He is vice president of the Lancaster County Bar Association.

He is a member of the University Club; the Lincoln Country Club; and a life member of the Country Club of Beloit, Kansas. He is president of the Fifty Fifty Club at Lincoln. He is affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church of Beloit. He is fond of golfing, swimming, and big game hunting. His hobbies are reading and Americana. Residence: Lincoln.


Theodore Anderson

A merchant and landowner at Bristow, Nebraska, Theodore Anderson has lived in this state all his life and has always taken an active interest in community and civic affairs. His father, Anders Peter Anderson, who was a pioneer in Burt County, Nebraska, was born at Westphalia, Sweden, May 21, 1833, and died at Oakland, Nebraska, May 23, 1889; he was prominent in church and school affairs at Oakland for many years. His mother, Sarah Gertrude (Adolphdotte) Anderson, who was a leader in the Baptist Church, was born at Mortala, Sweden, in 1833, and died at Oakland, August 19, 1917.

Mr. Anderson completed the eighth grade school and later was a student at Fremont Normal School where he studied commercial subjects. He has cared for the home farm and for the past 20 years has been a merchant at Bristow, and recently served as postmaster there. He is a member of the Yeoman Lodge at Bristow, has served as a member of the school board for 20 years, and is a member of the Commercial Club. During his residence at Oakland he was a member of the school board and the Young Men's Christian Association, and during the World War he was local chairman of the Red Cross, assisting in various loan drives. He is affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church and is acting superintendent of the Sunday School.

His marriage to Ollie Sofia Blomquist occurred at Oakland, October 28, 1897. Mrs. Anderson was born in Sweden They have two children: Francis, born July 16, 1898, who is manager of the Farmers Co-operative Oil Company of Boyd County; and Florence, an adopted daughter who married Lyle Webster. Residence: Bristol.


Victor Anderson

Victor Anderson, merchant and farmer, was born at Satra, Sandviken, Sweden, March 22, 1865. He was graduated from high school in Sweden, and after coming to America attended the Barnes School of Embalming Chicago, graduating in 1904.

Anders Anderson, father of Victor, was born in Satra, Sweden, in 1819, and died there on August 18, 1877. He was a farmer. Karin (Person) Anderson, mother of Victor, was born at Satra in 1821, where she died February 23, 1877.

In 1888 Mr. Anderson married Emma Wilson, who died in 1903. Four children were born to them, Clara; Edwin, who married Olga Elving and who is associated wth (sic) his father in business; Albert, who married Amy Peterson and who is now in the Stromsburg store; and Erma who lives at home.

On June 22, 1904, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Margareta Samuelson at Stromsburg. She was born there on May 1, 1874, and before her marriage was a nurse. They have four children, Alvina, born April 2, 1905; Carleton, born December 22, 1906; Vernon, born December 22, 1907; and Jeanette, born December 18, 1910. Carleton and Vernon attended the University of Nebraska; while Jeanette is a student at Bethel Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota.

A Democrat, Mr. Anderson was a candidate for state senator in 1930 from the 19th senatorial district, but was defeated by a slight majority. A resident of Nebraska since August 28, 1884, he was a farmer from 1886 to 1903 and since that time has been in the furniture and undertaking business. He was mayor of Stromsburg in 1911.

Mr. Anderson's religious affiliation is with the First Baptist Church of which he is vice president. He is treasurer of the Nebraska state conference of the Baptist Church, and has held the office of president in the Commercial Club, the Stromsburg Hotel Company, the Cemetery Association and the Board of Education. He is a member of the Nebraskana Society, and a leader in every movement for the advancement of his city. Residence: Stromsburg. (Photograph in Album).


Walter Lincoln Anderson

Walter Lincoln Anderson, lawyer, was born at Sidney, Iowa, February 19, 1868. He is the son of Major Albert R. Anderson, Civil War veteran, member of congress and lawyer, and a native of Ohio, and Sarah Jane (Woods) Anderson, a native of Pennsylvania.

Walter Lincoln Anderson is a graduate of the State University of Iowa Collegiate Department (1889) and Law Department (1891). He practiced law at Sidney for one year; at Hot Springs, South Dakota, for seven years, including four years as county attorney; removed to Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1899, where he has since resided and practiced law.

He served in the United States Army in the Spanish American War as a second lieutenant in the Rough Riders; and in the World War as a captain detailed as draft executive for Nebraska and also as paymaster for Nebraska. Prior to his army service in the World War he served as a member of the Draft Board at Lincoln.

He was a member of Lincoln Home Rule Charter Commission (1917) ; Nebraska Constitutional Convention (1919-1920) ; and was Speaker of Nebraska house of representatives in sessions of 1921 and 1922. He is a 33rd degree Mason, a Knight Templar, a Shriner and a member of Eastern Star.

Mr. Anderson is a member of United Spanish War Veterans, American Legion, Forty and Eight, Sons of American Revolution, Sons of Civil War Veterans, Kiwanis Club, Lincoln Country Club, Hiram Club. and of the American, Nebraska State, and Lancaster County Bar Associations. He has served as director in Lincoln National Bank and in Lincoln and Fremont Joint Stock Land Banks.

In 1902 he married Helen Marie Nance, born in Osceola, Nebraska, a daughter of Governor Albinus Nance. She attended the University of Nebraska and is a member of Eastern Star, the P. E. O., American Legion Auxiliary and Daughters of American Revolution. Residence: Lincoln.

William Ashley Anderson

More than 50 years ago William Ashley Anderson came to Nebraska from Iowa as a pioneer farmer, and since then has contributed towards the civic progress of both his community and state. He was born in Dubuque County, Iowa, April 14, 1853, the son of William I. and Hester (Hillman) Anderson.

His father, a surveyor and civil engineer, was born in Barren County, Kentucky, December 12, 1814, and died at Epworth, Iowa, December 25, 1882. His ancestors came to America in 1745, and settled in Virginia. His mother, Hester (Hillman) Anderson, was born at Bristol, England, May 2, 1817, and died at Epworth, March 4, 1861.

Mr. Anderson attended Epworth Seminary, 1872-74, and since then has been a farmer near Ord. He is a member of the library board at Ord, the Modern Woodmen of America, the Nebraskana Society, the Nebraska State Historical Society, and the Red Cross. His chief aim in life is to be a worthy and progressive citizen of Nebraska. His hobby is science.

On September 5, 1876, he was married to Elizabeth A. Hather at Farley, Iowa. Mrs. Anderson, whose ancestry was English, was born at Farley, September 21, 1857, and died at Kingsbury, California, April 7, 1888; their only son, Roy, died January 17, 1932. On July 26, 1893, Mr. Anderson was united in marriage with Sarah O. Snodgrass. Residence: Ord.


John Joseph Andre

For the past 48 years John Joseph Andre has been an important factor in the building up of Nebraska and his community. he was born at Luxemburg, Iowa, December 1, 1859, the son of John Nick and Catherine (Weis) Andre, the former a farmer who was born at Elvingen, Principality of Luxembourg, February 18, 1821. His father came to America in 1854, and died at Luxemburg, Iowa, December 1, 1880. His mother was born at Niederpalen, Luxembourg, June 26, 1826, and died at Luxemburg, Iowa, March 28, 1906.

Mr. Andre taught in the rural schools of Dubuque County, Iowa, and in the fall of 1883, moved to Raeville, Nebraska, where he established a small store. In 1887, as the town of Petersburg was being organized, he moved to that community and has conducted a mercantile establishment there since. He owns a third interest in the Petersburg Telephone Company, having been connected with that organization since its organization in 1903.

His marriage to Jennie Krier was solemnized at St. Donatus, Iowa, February 5, 1884. Mrs. Andre, who assisted in her husband's business prior to 1903, was born at St. Donatus, December 20, 1863. Their four children are: Nick, born November, 1884, who married Margaret Heinz; Catherine, born in January, 1886, who died in 1928; Frank, born in July, 1887, who married Ann Gertrude Reisdorf; and Claire, born in February, 1889. All are engaged in the mercantile business at Petersburg.

Mr. Andre holds membership in the Red Cross, is affiliated with the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church of Petersburg, and has been connected with every commercial organization in his community. He was a charter member of the Volunteer Fire Department, was treasurer of the village board from 1906 to 1910, and served as a member of the village board at various times prior to 1913. During the World War, Mr. Andre was a member of the Food Control Board.

He acted as a member of the Board of Education from 1901 to 1911, serving as chairman from 1901 to 1905. His hobby is reading. Residence: Petersburg.


Botilla Magdelane Andresen

Botilla M. Andresen was born at Omaha, Nebraska, April 24, 1894, daughter of Peter Fritz and Anna Christine (Rohlff) Andresen. Her father, whose ancestry was Danish and German, was born at Flensburg, Germany, April 19, 1856, and died at Omaha, December 27, 1918.

Her mother, whose ancestry was also German and Danish, was born at Davenport, Iowa, October 15, 1864, and died at Omaha, August 6, 1923.

Miss Andresen received her education in the Castillar and Leavenworth schools at Omaha, and later was a student at Central High School. She is a member of the Altrusa Club of Omaha. She holds membership in the Fontenelle Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She is member of the Nebraskana Society. She is affiliated with Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church of Omaha. Residence: Omaha.


Clayton Farrington Andrews

One of Nebraska's leading surgeons, Clayton Farrington Andrews is a native of the state. He was born at St. Paul, January 4, 1891, son of Ernest Irving and Pearl Josephine (Waite) Andrews. Ernest Andrews was born at Woodstock, Maine, December 5, 1864. He is a banker, and served as chairman of the Howard County Liberty Bond committee in 1918. Of English ancestry, his father's father, J. F. Andrews came from England and settled in Maine in early days. Pearl Waite Andrews was born at Nashua, Iowa, October 4, 1868, descended from the Welsh family of Waites. She is a member and has been state officer in the Order of Eastern Star.

Dr. Andrews was graduated from the St. Paul High School in 1907, and received a Ph. G. from Creighton University in 1909. In 1916 he received his M. D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and in 1923 was awarded the degree of Master of Science in Surgery from the University of Minnesota. During 1910-12 he attended the University of Nebraska. He was president in 1916 of the Deaver Surgical Society at the University of Pennsylvania, and his fraternities are Delta Upsilon and Phi Rho Sigma.

He served with the rank of first lieutenant Medical Corps, with the 134th Infantry, 34th Division, 1917-19, in France 10 months at Base Hospital No. 93, and with the 7th Division. He is a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and lieutenant commander of the U. S. Naval Reserve.

On August 28, 1919, he was married to Mildred Rae Wells at New York City. Mrs. Andrews was born at Stanton, Nebraska, April 27, 1895. They have one son, David I., born February 8, 1923. The family attends Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

Dr. Andrew's professional career is as follows: member of the Army Medical Corps 1917-19; surgical fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, 1919-1923; since 1923 practice in Lincoln. He is chairman of the surgical section at Lincoln General Hospital, attending surgeon at Bryan Memorial Hospital, surgeon Iowa-Nebraska Light and Power Company and the Northern Natural Gas Company. A fellow in the American College of Surgeons, he is also a member of the State and American Medical Associations. He is treasurer of the Lancaster County Medical Society, ex-resident physician at Mayo Clinic, etc. Dr. Andrews has contributed numerous articles on surgery to various state and national magazines.

He is a Scottish Rite Mason, Knight Templar and Shriner, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, the University and Lincoln Country Clubs. His sport is golf and his hobby philately. Residence: Lincoln.


Henry Seeley Andrews

Henry Seeley Andrews was born at Nemaha, Nebraska, March 28, 1885, the son of Bezaleel Bell and Ida Olive (Seeley) Andrews. His father, who was a surgeon, was born in Putnam County, Ohio, July 3, 1845, of Scotch and Irish parents, and died at Nemaha, November 10, 1915. He was a Civil War veteran; descended from Alexander Hamilton and Sir Charles Bell, and from a long line of doctors and surgeons.
