Robert Given Brown

Robert Given Brown, pioneer lawyer at Sutton, Nebraska, has been a resident of the state since 1871 when he moved to Clay County from Illinois. He was born in Clark County, Illinois, October 4, 1847, the son of Samuel Robinson and Mary Rare (Howell) Brown. His father, who was a farmer, was born in Virginia, in 1810, and died in Clark County, in 1855. His mother was born in Kentucky in 1815 and died at Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 1897. Both parents were of English descent.

Mr. Brown attended country school and the high school at Marshall, Illinois. He was admitted to the bar at Springfield in 1870, and for many years has been one of the foremost lawyers of Nebraska; he is now retired. He has been a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association, holds membership in the Red Cross, and is a member of the school board of which he served as the first director in 1872. He was awarded a medal by the U. S. Government during the World War for legal service.

A Democrat, Mr. Brown has played an important part in the political affairs of his state and community in the following positions; first treasurer of Clay County, 1871; legal advisor of the county; delegate at large to the Republican National Convention at Cincinnati, 1876; mayor of Sutton; and state senator, 1887. He moved to Clay County in the spring of 1871 and assisted in the organization of the county.

He married Ella Belinda Constable at Marshall, May 4, 1881; her ancestry is Scotch and French. Four children were born to this marriage: Alice Mary, born March 11, 1882, who died in 1929; Jess Belinda, born November 29, 1883, who married Ralph Waldo Giffen; Mabel Roberta, born in December, 1889, who married Anthony William Burg; and Robert Grant, who died in infancy. Mr. Brown is a Mason. Residence: Sutton.


William Arthur Brown

William Arthur Brown, publisher of the Friend Sentinel, was born at Loup City, Nebraska, July 8, 1889, son of Edward Arthur and Lavinia (Goldsworthy) Brown. The father was born in Batavia, Illinois, September 20, 1864, and died at Friend, December 21, 1922. He was publisher of the Friend Sentinel, postmaster at Friend, and served in the Nebraska legislature 1907, 1909. His wife, Lavinia, was born in Wales, June 5, 1868, of English ancestry.

Mr. Brown attended public school at Loup City and began his newspaper career on the Sherman County Times. He has been associated with the Claflin Printing Company and the Lincoln Daily Star, and since October, 1911, has resided at Friend.

On September 3, 1913, he was married to Weir Eugenia Lenox at Friend. She was born at Sterling, Colorado, June 9, 1889. There are two children, Grace Elizabeth, born March 7, 1915; and Sarah Lavina, born March 24, 1920.

A Democrat, Mr. Brown has been a member of the board of education, and the city council. He was delegate to the general conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, 1928-32, and during 1926-27, was president of the Nebraska Press Association. He is a member of the Friend Chamber of Commerce. Residence: Friend.


Thorne Browne

Thorne Browne, former newspaper man and a leading business executive of Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska, was born in Macoupin County, Illinois. His father Elliott LeRoy Browne, who was a farmer and a mechanic. was born at Rome, New York, August 7, 1845, and died at Edgar, Clay County, Nebraska, June 21, 1921. His ancestry is Scotch-Irish. Elizabeth (Pierson) Browne mother of Thorne, was born of English parentage at Louis, Missouri, August 7, 1851.

Mr. Browne was graduated from the Edgar High School in 1898, and in 1907, was granted his A. B. degree at the University of Nebraska, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was president of the senior class in 1907, was editor of the year book, and was a member of Alpha Theta Chi Fraternity.

He was a teacher in the public schools from 1898 to 1903; was a member of the editorial staff of the Nebraska State Journal, 1907-15; acted as assistant director of the Legislative Reference Bureau, 1915; was industrial commissioner of the Omaha Chamber of Commerce for eight months in 1926 and 1927; and since 1927 has been managing director of the middlewest division of the National Electric Light Association, and of the Nebraska section of this organization.

A Republican, Mr. Browne was secretary of the state railway commission, 1916-19; was a member of this commission by appointment, 1919-20, and by election, 192126; and was defeated for renomination in 1926.

His marriage to Zoe Lou Chenoweth was solemnized at Ohiowa, Fillmore County, Nebraska, June 12, 1910. Mrs. Browne was born at Hubbell, Thayer County, Nebraska, December 8, 1883. Her Welsh-Irish ancestors came to America in 1635. Two children were born to this marriage: Donald, born February 20, 1911, who died November 20, 1917; and Betty May, born October 25, 1919.

Mr. Browne was a cadet at the University of Nebraska, and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln. He holds membership in the Lincoln University Club of Lincoln, and the Congregational Church of Lincoln. Residence: Lincoln.


Edith Wright Brownell

Edith Wright Brownell, clubwoman, was born at Schuyler, Nebraska, August 30, 1886, daughter of Henry Chester and Carrie Elizabeth (Sumner) Wright. Her father, who was born at Hyde Park, Vermont, January 21, 1847, was a lumberman. He died at Schuyler, on March 14, 1922. His wife, Carrie Elizabeth, was born at Appleton (McLain's Mills), Maine, June 28, 1853, and died at Schuyler, September 13, 1922. She served a three year term as first president of the Schuyler Civic Club. She was grand matron and grand treasurer of the Order of Eastern Star of Nebraska, and had ten ancestors who served in the Revolutionary War. John Howland, Mayflower passenger and Elizabeth Tilley, were among her forebears.

Upon the completion of her elementary education it, the Schuyler grade school, Edith Wright attended Schuyler High School from which she was graduated in 1904. From September, 1904, until June, 1906, she attended the University of Nebraska, where she was a member of Delta Gamma.

On October 2, 1912, she was united in marriage to Rainsford Ormond Brownell, at Schuyler. Mr. Brown ell was born at Liverpool, England, February 8, 1882, and is engaged in the banking business. They have one daughter, Winifred Edith, born July 10, 1913.

Mrs. Brownell is a Republican, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Society of Mayflower Descendants. She organized, and was first secretary of the local chapter of the Red Cross, and is a past president of the Civic Club of Schuyler. She is also a member of the Eastern Star, and of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and the Woman's Auxiliary. Residence: Schuyler.

Rainsford Charles Brownell

Born at Dorchester, New Brunswick, Canada, January 12, 1860, Rainsford C. Brownell, bank executive, philanthropist, outstanding civic and political leader, is the John Harvey and Mary Black (Taylor) Brownell. John Harvey Brownell was born at Dorchester, New Brunswick, was an operator of mills at that place, and a political office holder throughout his life. He was a descendant of a family of English aristocrats who emigrated to Canada, in 1750. His wife was born at Dorchester, and she, too, was a descendant of English aristocracy, her family settling in Canada in 1800. Both Mr. and Mrs. Brown died at their country home in Saunders County, Nebraska; Mr. Brownell in 1866, and his wife on January 18, 1904.

Rainsford C. Brownell attended public school, and on June 15, 1904, at North Bend, Nebraska, was married to Cedelia May Easom, a teacher and executive secretary. Mrs. Brownell was born at Morse Bluff, Nebraska, December 3, 1871. Her mother was of English parentage, and her father's ancestors were Kentuckians. She is a member of the Woman's Club, the P. E. O., the Eastern Star, and the Parent-Teachers' Association.

A resident of this state for fifty-nine years, Mr. Brownell was a pioneer settler in Nebraska, coming with his parents from Canada to Saunders County, April 22, 1872. He is president of the Bank of Morse Bluff, and has extensive farming interests and connections. Much of his time has been spent in active politics; he was postmaster at Cedar Hill, during the years 1885 to 1895. and a member of the state legislature in 1895, elected on the Republican ticket.

Always outstanding in civic work, he possesses letters of recognition from ex-President Woodrow Wilson, and former Governor Neville, for his service in the registration of men for the war on September 12, 1918; was sergeant in the Home Guards, acted on every loan drive during the World War, and was chairman of many Red Cross drives, an organization the local chapter of which he is now vice-president. For thirty years he has been a member of the Cedar Hill School Board, and for two years has served in that capacity in North Bend.

Mr. Brownell holds membership in the Community Club, the Red Cross, the Masons, and the Shrine, and is affiliated with the North Bend Methodist Episcopal Church where he is trustee and steward of the board.

Horse breeding and raising is another interest of Mr. Brownell's. He owns a stock farm on Cedar Hill, and has raised and owned some of the fastest standard-bred horses in Nebraska. One of these horses, the famous gelding Spill, won numerous cash prizes and established a record on the turf of this state.

Mr. and Mrs. Brownell live in an attractive old colonial home in the beautiful residential section of North Bend, and their hospitality is known to a large acquaintance of friends throughout the county and state. They have two children, Agnes Mary Collins, a child of a former marriage of Mrs. Brownell's, and born January 2, 1896; and Donald Rainsford, born November 9, 1905.

Agnes Mary Collins is married to Richard E. Janssen. She is a graduate of Francis Shiner Academy, Mount Carol, Illinois, and holds an M. A. degree from Northwestern University. She is an accomplished musician, and the mother of two children, Richard, Jr., and Martha May. Donald Rainsford Brownell is a graduate of the Hill Preparatory School at Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and the Babson Institute of Boston, Massachusetts. He holds a position of chief statistician for the Tidewater Oil Corporation of Boston, Massachusetts. Residence: North Bend.


Rainsford Ormond Brownell

Born at Liverpool, England, February 8, 1882, Rainsford Ormond Brownell has been a resident of Nebraska for the past forty years. He is the son of William Taylor and Ida (Fowler) Brownell, the former a native of St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. William Taylor Brownell was a sea captain of Scotch-Irish descent, who died at Burwell, Nebraska, in 1903. His wife, Ida, was born in Nova Scotia of French and English extraction.

Mr. Brownell attended Fremont High School, the Fremont Normal College, and was graduated in 1901. He was also a student at the University of Nebraska. At the university he was made a member of Acacia Fraternity.

His marriage to Edith Wright was solemnized at Schuyler, where Mrs. Brownell was born, August 30, 1886. She is of English descent. There is one child, Winifred, born July 10, 1913.

For some years Mr. Brownell was active in educational work, three years as a teacher in country school, three years as superintendent of school at Alexandria, four years as principal of the Schuyler High School, and four months as superintendent of the Hooper Schools. He is at the present time cashier and director of the Schuyler State Bank, and the Schuyler Savings Bank, and from 1926-29 was a member of the Guarantee Fund Commission.

Mr. Brownell is a Republican. While at the university he was a member of the cadets, with ranks from private, Company A, to sergeant; and during the World War was a member of the Home Guard. He is an Episcopalian, a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Masons and the Odd Fellows, and is also a member of the Chamber of Commerce. His hobby is gardening. Residence: Schuyler.


Edward Charles Brt

Banker and merchant, Edward Charles Brt, was born at Crete, Saline County, Nebraska, March 13, 1882. He is the son of Frank Brt and Theresa (Janecek) Brt. His father was born at Lhota Rybova, Sobeslav County, Tabor, State, Czechoslovakia, in 1845. His parents were peasants and land tillers, and came to the United States in 1871. He received military training in Austria Hungary, and served as a musician in the military band. He died at Crete, Saline County, Nebraska, December 30, 1928.

His mother was born in Dolany, Pilsen County, Czechoslovakia, May 28, 1855. Her parents were successful farmers and she was interested in reading and beneficial community work. She died at Crete, April 4, 1925.

Mr. Brt attended Crete High School, Omaha Commercial College, in 1900, and the summer school session of the Teacher's College at Emporia, Kansas, in 1926, where he studied music and received honors. Martha Marie Henke became his wife at Crete, April 26, 1917. She was born at Western, Saline County, Nebraska, of German parentage. Her parents farmed and she had experience as a clerk and house keeper. To this union four children were born ; Genevieve, May 12, 1918, who died April 15, 1925, Edward Blaine, May 9, 1924, Donnalee, September 13, 1927, and Carolyn, March 18, 1931.

Edward Brt was in the mercantile business from 1907-17, at Madison and Crete, Nebraska, then entered the City National Bank and a year later the Tobias State Bank, as bookkeeper. Later he worked for the Saline County Bank at Western, Nebraska, as the assistant cashier, which position he held for ten years. At present he is cashier in the Able State Bank and is a trustee for the depositors committee. He is a director of the Able State Bank and also has the position of city treasurer.

Mr. Brt is affiliated with the Evangelical Church, is secretary and a director of the Able school board and has held membership in the Royal Highlanders for twenty-five years. He is a member of the Nebraskana Society. Music is his hobby. He plays a cornet and for the past thirty-five years has participated in many musical occasions. Residence: Abie. Carl Wilhelm Bruce

Carl W. Bruce, pioneer Nebraska farmer and banker, was born at Dalarna, Sweden, November 18, 1861, the son of Lars P. and Greta E. (Soderburg) Bruce. His father, a farmer, was born in Dalarna, April 18, 1831, and died at Malmo, Nebraska, July 13, 1907. He came to America in 1868, and settled at Omaha. Greta E. Soderburg was a typical pioneer woman, born at Dalarna, January 24, 1833, and who died at Malmo, on September 23, 1902.

Mr. Bruce received his education in the public schools and soon became a farmer and cattle feeder. After some years he entered the real estate and banking business, and is now president of the Farmers and Merchants Bank at Malmo. A Republican, he has been actively interested in political affairs in his community and state for many years, and has served as chairman of the Saunders County Republican central committee several times.

He is a member of the Nebraskana Society, is affiliated with the Swedish Mission Church at Malmo, and holds membership in the Woodmen of the World. During the World War he took part in war saving stamp sales. His recreations include hunting, fishing and reading.

On March 2, 1898, Mr. Bruce was married to Emma C. Nordquist at Malmo. She was born at Dalarno, on January 30, 1869. They have the following children: Clifford, born January 13, 1899, who attended a mechanical school, and who is in the oil business; Mildred, born July 18, 1901, who received a business education, and who married Earl Barks; Leila, born October 14, 1905, who attended the State University two years, and Genevieve, born December 8, 1908, who attended the State University. Leila and Genevieve are teachers. Residence: Malmo.


Clark Bruce

Clark Bruce, educator of the blind, was born in Dearborn County, Indiana, November 15, 1861, the son of Amos and Sarah Ann (Clements) Bruce. His father, whose family came from Scotland, was born in Indiana, in 1826, and died in Burt County, Nebraska. He was a farmer.

His mother was of English descent, was born in Indiana, and died in Burt County.

Mr. Bruce received his education at the School for the Blind at Nebraska City, where he was graduated in 1886. Later he studied for eight months at the Ohio School for the Blind at Columbus, Ohio. He has lived in Nebraska City since 1874, and for forty years has been a teacher of industrial art at the School for the Blind. Aside from his school activities he is an expert piano tuner and teaches this subject to his students.

On June 16, 1897, he was married to Mamie Leonora Gray at Bellevue, Sarpy County, Nebraska. Mrs. Bruce, whose ancestry is Scotch, was born at Marton, Michigan, May 16, 1878. She is a nurse. Three children were born to this union: Robert C., born June 24, 1898, who married Hannah Hibbard; Alta, born May 20, 1901, who married James Freeman; and Clark, born October 4, 1902, who married Viola Fitzeham.

Mr. Bruce is president of the Nebraska Association of Workers for the Blind, and president of the Greggsport Parent-Teachers' Association. He is a member of the Highland Nobles, and is affiliated with the First Methodist Church at Nebraska City. His hobby is gardening. He is a Republican. Residence: Nebraska City.


Charles Henry Brugh

A leader in the professional and civic world at York, Nebraska, Charles Henry Brugh, has been a resident of this state for over 37 years. He was born in Livingston County, Illinois, December 7, 1888, the son of Charles Lewis and Mollie Belle (Snider) Brugh. His father, who was a farmer, was born in Botetcourt County, Virginia, May 17, 1851. He came to Nebraska in 1893 and settled near Alma in 1894, where he resided until his death March 18, 1923. His mother, whose German ancestry dates to the Fishburn family of Virginia (1740), was born at Troutville, Virginia, January 29, 1863.

Dr. Brugh attended rural school in Harlan County Nebraska, and in 1910 was graduated from the Alma High School. He received the D. D. S. degree at Creighton University in 1913. He has been engaged in the practice of dentistry since 1913 and at this time is president of the Southwestern District Dental Society, is director and treasurer of the Missouri Valley Life Insurance Company of Lincoln.

He is a member of the York County Commercial Club, has been a member of the board of directors of the Young Men's Christian Association since 1926, and is a member of the Red Cross and Salvation Army, He holds membership in the following: Odd Fellows; Masons; Elks; Knights of Pythias; Nebraskana Society; and the First Methodist Episcopal Church of York. His favorite sport is football, and his hobbies include mechanics and touring by automobile. Politically, Dr. Brugh is independent.

He was married to Muriel Ruth Adams at Lincoln, Nebraska, May 20, 1916. Mrs. Brugh was born at Phillips, Nebraska, May 1, 1894; her father's ancestors came to America from England prior to 1880 and her mother's family came from Switzerland in 1775. They have four children: Janice Marie, born August 5, 1918; Charles Henry, born April 6, 1921; Elroy Alfred, born April 19, 1922; and Donalea, born October 4, 1925. Residence: York.


Charles Henry Brugh

A life resident of Nebraska, Charles Henry Brugh was born at Fremont, July 5, 1867. He is the son of Elijah G. and Mary E. (Bowman) Brugh, pioneers in Nebraska in its early days. Elijah Brugh was born in Hartford City, Indiana, August 17, 1846, and at the time of his death at Fremont, on March 9, 1919, was a retired farmer.

Mary E. Bowman was born in Virginia, April 5, 1839, and came with her husband to Nebraska. She died at Fremont, on May 14, 1926. Charles Henry Brugh was educated in the public schools, and later married Anna Lydick. To them were born three children: Earl E., born March 26, 1889, who married Earley Flesher; C. Stewart, born January 2, 1891, who married Helen Randall; and Ethel B., born February 18, 1892.

Mr. Brugh has always been a leader in his community, and has been a Republican all his life. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Masonic order and The Nebraskana Society. Residence: Fremont.


Emmet Stewart Brumbaugh

Emmet S. Brumbaugh, prominent lawyer at Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, was born at Logansport, Cass County, Indiana, November 13, 1888. His father, Theodore Everett Brumbaugh, who was born in Elkhart County Indiana, November 22, 1863, and died at Omaha, July 15, 1915, was a traveling salesman for the National Cash Register Company; his ancestry was Pennsylvania Dutch and Scotch. His mother, who is of English and Scotch descent, was born at Logansport, November 2, 1865.

Mr. Brumbaugh was graduated from the high school at Logansport, in 1907. He was awarded the A. B., 1912, and LL. B. degree, 1913, at the University of Indiana. He was a student at De Pauw University at Greencastle, Indiana, 1909-10. While attending University of Indiana, he was a member of the honorary law fraternity Phi Delta Phi and was president of the board of managers of Arbutus, the year book, 1913. He is now a member of the law firm Gray & Brumbaugh of Omaha. He has lived in this state for 18 years.

New York, March 23, 1918. Mrs. Brumbaugh was born at Winimac, Indiana, January 5, 1887; she is of Scotch-irish descent. They have one daughter, Lucille, born June 9, 1923.

Mr. Brumbaugh was auditor of masters accounts for the united States Shipping Board, the Emergency Fleet Corporation at New York City, 1918-19. He is a member of the Omaha Bar Association; the Nebraska State Bar Association; and the American Bar Association. He holds membership in the Elks; of which he is esteemed Leading Knight; Knights of Pythias; Ancient Order United Workmen of Iowa, and is member of 2nd division; and the Security Benefit Association. He is a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Omaha His sport is golf. He is a Republican. Residence: Omaha.


Dee Andrew Brumley

Dee Andrew Brumley, manager of the J. C. Penney company at Superior, was born at Greenville, Tennessee, May 20, 1899, and is the son of David Andrew and Martha Adlyn (Fraker) Brumley.

He was educated in public school, and has been connected with the mercantile business practically all his mature life. For four years he was a salesman with the W. J. Johnston Mercantile Company at Lamar, Colorado, and for the past seven years has been associated with the J. C. Penney Company as store manager, the last three years at Superior.

On August 31, 1920, he was united in marriage to Bertha Rowena Knisley, at Checotah, Oklahoma, her birthplace. Mrs. Brumley was born September 8, 1904. There are two children, Martha Lee, born June 5, 1927; and Mary Dee, born January 28, 1929.

Mr. Brumley is independent in politics. During the late war he had eighteen months' service in the Philippine Islands, and for a number of years has been a member of the American Legion. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club, the Masons, and the Methodist Church. Mr. Brumley's club is the Superior Country Club. Residence: Superior.


Percy A. Brundage

Percy A. Brundage was born at Orange, New Jersey, October 9, 1864, the son of Abner and Sarah Jane (Harrison) Brundage. His father was born at Orange, August 2, 1830, and died at Tecumseh, Nebraska, February, 1906.

Sarah Brundage, his mother, was born at Orange, December, 1838, and died at Tecumseh, June, 1908.

Mr. Brundage received his education at Ashland School, East Orange, New Jersey. A Republican, he has been postmaster at Tecumseh for 24 years, and for 26 years has been president of the Tecumseh Building and Loan Association. He is one of the publishers of the Tecumseh Chieftain, and is a director in the Farmers' State Bank. He has been a resident of Nebraska for the last 51 years.

On May 4, 1892, he was united in marriage with Lelia Dew, at Tecumseh. Mrs. Brundage, who was born in Tecumseh, December 9, 1867, died August 29, 1923. Four children were born to this marriage, two of whom are living; Alan, born November 3, 1894, who died April, 1919; Anna, born January 31, 1897, who married Merl E. Townsend; Mary, born May 3, 1903, who married Bryce Crawford, Junior; and Jean, born August 11, 1911, who died July, 1916.

Mr. Brundage is a Mason and Knight of Pythias. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Tecumseh. Residence: Tecumseh.


Thomas J. W. Bruning

Thomas J. W. Bruning was born at Minonk, Woodford county, Illinois March 21, 1878, the son of Frank D. and Lena Engle (Lehners) Bruning. His father, who was a successful banker, was born in Germany, April 10, 1830, and died at Bruning, February 27, 1931. His mother was born in Germany, March 27, 1854, and died at Bruning, April 10, 1890.

Mr. Bruning who is a Republican, has lived in Nebraska for the past 50 years during which time he has been a farmer, and for 15 years has served as constable and street, light, and water commissioner of Bruning. He is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and holds membership in the local Red Cross chapter, the Bruning Community Club, and The Nebraskana Society.

His marriage to Tena M. Block was solemnized at Bruning, June 26, 1902. Mrs. Bruning was born in Livingston County, Illinois, September 1, 1878. Residence: Bruning.


Benjamin John Brunke

Benjamin John Brunke, a lifelong resident of this state, was born at Campbell, Nebraska, November 1, 1886, the son of John Conrad and Mary Agnes (Dusek) Brunke, and is now living on the same place where he was born 46 years ago. His father, a farmer, was born at Rockville, Wisconsin, May 1, 1856, and died at Campbell, November 27, 1920. His mother was born in Bohemia, May 7, 1867.

He has been a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, has been treasurer of the local school board since 1921, was formerly a deacon in the Presbyterian Church, and holds membership in the Red Cross and the Farmers Union at Campbell.

On March 22, 1910, he married Carolina Louise Koch at Campbell. Mrs. Brunke, whose ancestry is German, was born at Campbell, November 28, 1889. They have two children: Allen Vincent, born July 23, 1912; and Jerome Clayton, born September 29, 1924. Allen is studying veterinary surgery at Kansas State Agricultural College at Manhattan, Kansas. Residence: Campbell.


Charles H. Brunner

Charles H. Brunner, one of Fremont's leading citizens, was born at Muscatine, Iowa, December 31, 1853. He is the son of Dr. Henry and Ernestine (Denkman) Brunner, the former a native of Germany, and a physician. He died at Fremont, in June, 1881. His wife, Ernestine was also a native of Germany, and died at Long Beach, California, in 1923.

Mr. Brunner attended public and high school, and was graduated from the University of Michigan in 1880, as a pharmaceutical chemist. A resident of Nebraska for 60 years, he has been engaged in business in Fremont during a large part of that time. At present he is senior member of the firm, Brunner Drug Company, and a director of the Fremont National Bank.

On September 19, 1888, he was married to Lizzie Knoell at Fremont. Mrs. Brunner was born at Fremont, on March 15, 1865. There are no children. Mr. and Mrs. Brunner are Democrats, but inclined to vote for the man rather than adhere closely to party politics.

Mr. Bruner (sic) is an Agnostic. He is a member of the Masons, the Odd Fellows and the Woodmen of the World, and for a number of years was a member of the School Board of Fremont. His hobby is reading. Residence: Fremont.


Harvey J. Bruns

Harvey J. Bruns, farmer, was born at Talmage, Nebraska, November 15, 1890. He is the son of John O. and Fannie (Weber) Bruns, the former a native of Germany, who was born January 10, 1858. His wife, Fannie, was born in Sterling, Nebraska, in December, 1859, and died at Excelsior Springs, Arkansas, in June, 1898. She was of pioneer Nebraska parentage.
