Iowa, High School, and in 1899 from the Cedar Rapids Business College at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He taught school from 1893 to 1898.
On August 14, 1907, he was married to Gertrude MacDonald at Sauk Center, Minnesota. Mrs. Burrows was born at Minneapolis, December 28, 1880. She is a member of the Eastern Star, Rebekahs, Woman's Club and the Methodist Episcopal Church, and is president of the parent Teacher's Association at Mitchell. They have three children, Donald O., born August 12, 1909; Gurney E., born January 31, 1912; and Gertrude C., born January 8, 1914. Donald O. and Gurney E. are both students of the Chadron State Normal.
For ten years Mr. Burrows was engaged in the United States Reclamation Service. He was associated with the Burlington Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway for one year, and was engaged in banking for one year.
Active in Republican politics Mr. Burrows has been justice of the peace for about 12 years and a member of the school board 16 years. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the Masons, and the Odd Fellows. Residence: Mitchell.
Russell Melvin Burruss
Born at Alexandria, Nebraska, February 10, 1888, Russell M. Burruss is the son of Joseph Gordon and Hattie (Phelps) Burruss. His father, a lumberman, of English descent, was born at Lynchburg, Virginia, and died at Lincoln, in 1912. His mother, a native of Illinois, died at Lincoln, in 1907.
Mr. Burruss was graduated from Lincoln High School in 1904, and attended the University of Nebraska during 1906-07-08. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and was active in basketball and track.
On January 12, 1910, he was married to Sarah Margaret Martin. Mrs. Burruss, who is of Scotch descent, was born at South Omaha, in 1890. There are two children, Robert, born November 16, 1917, and John, born April 9, 1916.
A resident of Nebraska for forty years, Mr. Burruss has been engaged in the live stock commission business for more than fifteen years. Among his business associations are the Phelps-Burruss Lumber Company; Martin Brothers Live Stock Commission Co. of Omaha and Chicago. He is a member of the Omaha Live Stock Exchange, also.
Mr. Burruss is a member of the Elks and of the Omaha Athletic Club and Field Club. His favorite sports are football and golf. Residence: Omaha.
Albert Henry Burt
Born at Elwood, Nebraska, January 4, 1886, Albert Henry Burt is the son of Gordon Turner and Catherine (Lawson) Burt. His father, who was a minister in the Christian Church, was born in Illinois, and died at Stamford, Nebraska, February 2, 1911. His mother was born in Illinois and died at Stamford, December 28, 1924.
Mr. Burt was graduated from the Elwood High School in 1905, and the following year was employed by Rudge & Guenzel Company of Lincoln. He moved to Stamford in 1906 where he was associated in business with his father until 1908 when he entered the civil service. He is a rural mail carrier at this time, is secretary and a stockholder in the Stamford Oil & Supply Company, and is connected with the Cowles Oil Company and the Farmers & Merchants Oil Company as a stockolder and officer.
A member of the Stamford Christian Church, Mr. Burt is active in that organization as superintendent of the Sunday School, teacher, and chairman of the official board. His hobby is traveling and he has visited most places of interest in the United States. His favorite sports are golf and tennis.
His marriage to Maude Tracey took place at Lincoln, Nebraska, December 30, 1906. Mrs. Burt, whose ancestry is Scotch and Irish, was born at Elwood, November 24, 1888. Residence: Stamford.
George Turner Burt
Born at Wilber, Nebraska, September 24, 1877, George Turner Burt is the son of Gordon Turner and Catherine Your (Lawson) Burt. His father, a native of Illinois, born March 15, 1856, was a clergyman, whose death occurred at Stamford, Nebraska, February 14, 1911. His mother, who was born in Illinois, June 12, 1856, died at Stamford, on January 18, 1920.
Educated in public school, Mr. Burt was for some time a grain buyer. He was elected county treasurer of Gosper County on the Democratic ticket two terms, and is now manager of a lumber yard, director of the Home Bank, the Elwood Co-operative Oil Company, the Equity Elevator, the Community Improvement Company, and secretary of the Elwood Community Club.
On October 15, 1899, Mr. Burt was married to Sadie Esteila Flicks at Elwood. Mrs. Burt was born at Boone, Iowa, March 26, 1883. There are three children, Klyte, born December 29, 1902, who married Doris Kelly, and who is a student at the University of Nebraska; Homer, born September 22, 1904, who married Letha Gembler, and who is employed by Rudge & Guenzel at Lincoln; and La Vera, born June 2, 1906, who married James Murphy, and is connected with the department of public works at Lincoln.
Mr. Burt has lived in Nebraska, since birth. He was treasurer of the local Red Cross organization during the World War and participated in other civilian wartime projects. He is a member of various commercial, welfare and educational organizations, and was recently made a member of the Nebraskana Society. Residence: Elwood.
Ben H. Busboom
Ben H. Busboom, merchant and farmer of Crete, Saline County, Nebraska, was born at Crete, February 9, 1890, the son of pioneer Nebraskans Ben H. and Johanna (Sleep) Busboom. His father, who was a farmer, was born in Germany, March 21, 1862, and died at Crete, March 29, 1926; he came to America in 1870 when he settled in Illinois, and in 1888 settled in Saline County. His mother was born in Germany, September 12, 1866; came to this country with her parents in 1870 and settled in Illinois; and in 1875 moved to Crete.
Mr. Busboom was graduated from the Crete High School where he participated in track and basketball activities. In 1922 he began work with the Farmer's Union in the implement department. In 1927 he organized an implement business for himself. He is the owner and manager of the Busboom & Stone Implement Company, and has retained 255 acres of farmland for cultivation.
On December 11, 1912, his marriage to Elizabeth Katherine Schultz was solemnized at Crete. Mrs. Busboom was born in Lancaster County, Nebraska, October 22, 1893; her ancestry is German. They have four children: Evelyn, born December 21, 1913; Dorothy, born November 24, 1915; Edward, born December 1, 1918; and Clarence, born January 3, 1920.
Mr. Busboom's children have all attended the district school at Crete, where his parents and he received their education. He is a member of the Crete Community Club and the Nebraskana Society. For the past 15 years he has been an active member of the district school board. He is affiliated with the German Congregational Church of Crete. He is interested in all out of door sports. He is a Democrat. Residence: Crete.
Fritz John Busch
Fritz J. Busch was born at Strokirchen, Mecklenburg, Germany, July 31, 1855, the son of Christian John and Dorothea (Mueller) Busch. His father was a farmer in

Germany. His mother died at Strokirchen, September 13, 1865. Mr. Busch received his education in Germany. He arrived in Schuyler, Nebraska, July 15, 1870, and started to work on a farm at $70.00 per year.
In 1872, he was connected with the firm Wells & Nieman, Millers and Grain Buyers, which position he held for eight years; he was compelled to give up this work because of ill health. Later he returned to farm work, and in 1896 moved to Howells, and went into business. He organized a stock company to build a flour mill; he was successful in building a 75 barrel capacity flour mill of which he is now president and general manager. The mill has twice been enlarged and today it has a 500 barrel capacity and is a thriving concern. He is also interested in a general merchandise store.
Mr. Busch is a member of the Red Cross and the Nebraskana Society. He is a Mason, a Democrat, and holds membership in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Howells.
He was married to Minnie Mary Brumm, at Schuyler, July 22, 1881. Mrs. Busch was born at Middleton, Dane County, Wisconsin, October 17, 1858, and died at Howells, September 28, 1915. The following children were born to them: Mary S., born May 3, 1882, who married Dr. H. Dey Myers; Herman, born September 15, 1892, who died October 5, 1892; Rudolph F., born October 18, 1883, who married Bertha Phelps; Minnie D., born November 10, 1890, who died February 10, 1895; John, born December 20, 1886, who died December 21, 1886; John W., born February 13, 1888, who died May 13, 1888; and Caroline S., born February 10, 1889, who married P. J. Kulhanek. Mr. Busch was united in marriage with Minnie H. Nieman, at Schuyler, May 20, 1919. Residence: Howells. (Photograph in Album).
Alfred Otto Buschow
Alfred Otto Buschow was born in Blue Hill, Nebraska, August 8, 1894, and in 1929 was elected the youngest Master Farmer in Nebraska. He is the son of Frank Charles and Marie (Kublanch) Buschow, the former born in Brauburch, Germany, November 25, 1847. Frank Charles Buschow was a cabinet maker by trade in Germany, and an early pioneer in Webster County. He had much to do with the development of his community. After his retirement from the farm he was a justice of the peace until his death at Blue Hill on December 16, 1922. His wife, Marie, was born in Brauburch, Germany, July 2, 1868, and is still living.
Mr. Buschow attended public school and afterward started farming. He then traveled for a year over the United States and Canada, working in lumber camps on the west coast, and then in one of the largest dairies there. He has exhibited at the Nebraska State Fair for 15 consecutive years and possesses many first premium ribbons. He also exhibited at the National Dairy Show in St. Louis, in 1931. Returning in the spring 1912, he engaged in the purebred stock business and is now a breeder of purebred livestock. At the present time he is president of the Nebraska Guernsey Breeders Association, and active and interested in 4-H Club work. He is a member of Guilds Gopatis (National Honor Roll), of which he has been vice president, the Nebraska Dairymens Association, the Nebraska Dairy Development Society, the Greater Nebraska Club, (charter member), the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, and the Nebraska Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He is a Mason, a member of Hastings Consistory, and a member of the Nebraskana Society. He is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and is a liberal giver to all worthy causes.
During the late war he was a corporal in the United States Army and participated in three battles, Fliry, St. Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne. He is a member of Shirley Post No. 176 of the American Legion and has been an officer of that organization.
On November 18, 1920, he was married to Helen Elza Suchland at Hastings. Mrs. Buschow was born at Hastings, August 10, 1896. Her father was born in Baden, Germany, and her mother in Switzerland, her mother comes of the Swiss nobility. The Buschows have three children, Dale Everett, born September 7, 1921; Bernard Vaughn, born December 7, 1922; and Rosemary born January 16, 1926. Residence: Blue Hill. (Photograph on Page 197).
Nelson Burt Bush
Nelson Burt Bush, railroad passenger and freight agent at Red Cloud for a number of years, was born at Ellington, New York, June 25, 1877, son of Collins L. and Ella Ernestine (Round) Bush.
The father, a farmer died at Ellington in the winter of 1884. The mother is still living and is residing at Oberlin, Kansas. Mr. Bush attended public school, was graduated from high school in 1894, at Oberlin, Kansas, and taught school two terms in Decatur County, Kansas.
He was married on April 17, 1900, to Elsie Louise Burgess at McCook. Mrs. Bush was born near Arapahoe, Nebraska, March 25, 1880, daughter of Frank D. and Florence E. Burgess. There are two children, Lynn H., born March 25, 1901, who married Mildred C. Borin who is in the incurance (sic) business at Red Cloud; and Eugene C., born September 30, 1903, who married Ilah L. Barrett who is a railway telegrapher and relief agent on the McCook division of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad.
Mr. Bush has been prominent in civic organizations for some years, has been president of the Red Cloud Ad Club, 1928-30, and president of the Lions Club, 1930-1932. He is a member of the Red Cloud Methodist Church and its brotherhood, the Red Cross, the Masons, and the Isaak Walton League. His favorite sport is golf. Residence: Red Cloud.
Louis Bernard Bushman
Louis Bernard Bushman, oculist and aurist, was born at Omaha, March 29, 1877, the son of William and Wilhelmina (Litzen) Bushman.
He received his medical degree from Creighton University in 1903, and took post graduate work in London and Vienna.
He was married on October 20, 1915, to Evangeline Homan at Omaha.
His professional organizations include the American Medical Association, the Nebraska State Medical Association, the Douglas County Medical Association and the American College of Surgeons. Residence: Omaha.
Herbert Martin Bushnell
Herbert Martin Bushnell, banker, was born at Lincoln, Nebraska, July 1, 1893, son of Herbert Martin and Elsie Nevada (Campbell) Bushnell.
His father was born July 20, 1855, at Moria, New York, and died at Lincoln, January 1, 1920. He was a publisher and a former postmaster, and at one time was president of the Nebraska State Association of Commercial Clubs, and president of the Nebraska Sons of the American Revolution. His wife, Elsie, was born November 12, 1858, and was former president of the Lincoln Woman's Club and the Nebraska Federation of Women's Clubs.
Mr. Bushnell was educated in the Lincoln Public and High Schools, and received his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nebraska in 1915, there he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. He is a Republican, a member and former secretary of the Chamber of Commerce at Alliance. He is former executive secretary of the Federal Food Administration of Nebraska, and at the present time is the director of the United States Trust Company and director of the United Staes (sic) National Bank. He was admitted to the practice of law in Nebraska in 1915. He is a former director of the

Howard Lewis Bushnell
Howard Lewis Bushnell, retired merchant, was born at Johnsonville, Ohio, January 18, 1850, son of Lewis and Elizabeth Ann (Treat) Bushnell.
Lewis Bushnell was born in Johnsonville, Ohio, March 23, 1818, and died there on December 6, 1903. He was a farmer and dairyman.
The Bushnell genealogy, gives the Tribe of Daniel, the great, great grandfather of Howard Lewis Bushnell, as Daniel Bushnell, who was born December 18, 1763, and died August 12, 1842. He was a captain in the Revolution, serving seven years, and it is thought that some of his sons were also in that war. Captain Alexander Bushnell, with his son Daniel and others of the family, came from Connecticut about 1804, and settled in Hartford, Ohio.
The great grandfather, Daniel Bushnell, was twice married, his first wife being Rebecca Banning, by whom he had ten children, Lewis B., Lydia (twice married but had no children), Ziba B. married Amasa Webb, Amoret B. married Sylvester Borden, Daniel M. B. married Minerva Coe (first son was Ralph S. B.), Clarrissa married Josiah Fenney, George W. B. (physician).
Neither Hiram nor Rhoda were ever married. Elijah's second wife was Eunice Brockway, and the names of the children were, Newton, Rebecca, Alexander, Joseph 1st., Joseph 2nd., Philena, and Benjamin.
Elizabeth Ann Treat, wife of Lewis Bushnell, was born in Vienna, Ohio, July 4, 1821, and died at Johnsonville, Ohio, February 22, 1894. She was a teacher before her marriage.
On September 18, 1876, Howard Lewis Bushnell married Kit Clark at Vienna, Ohio. She was born at Vienna, December 12, 1853. To them six children were born, four of whom are living, Ira, born July 17, 1880, married Rachel Brown; Bert, born December 12, 1882, married Lottie People; Mary, born July 25, 1884, married Claude Walter Brown; Hugh, born April 12, 1886, died August 21, 1892; Charles, born July 28, 1887, married Esther Neeland; and Carrie, born June 3, 1890, married Clarence Canfield and died February 11, 1918.
Mr. Bushnell has been a resident of Nebraska for 44 years and during much of that time was a merchant at Hemingford. He is a member of the Congregational Church, the Odd Fellows, and the Nebraskana Society. Residence: Hemingford.
Benjamin Franklin Butler
Benjamin Franklin Butler was born at Calhoun, Iowa, June 20, 1881, the son of Harvey Gibson and Ida (Wills) Butler. His father, who was a miller, was born at Springfield, Illinois, September 20, 1847, and died at Los Angeles, California, November 20, 1928; his ancestry was English. His mother was born in Iowa, October 1, 1862, and died at Cambridge, Nebraska, November 11, 1891.
Mr. Butler was graduated from the Cambridge High School in 1898, and received the Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nebraska in 1907. He was a student at Doane College, from 1899 to 1901, and while a student at the University of Nebraska, was a member of Phi Delta Phi, Acacia, and president of Junior Laws.
A Republican, he served as county attorney of Furnas County, 1914-16, and as a member of the Nebraska Constitutional Convention, 1919-20. He is a member of the law firm Butler & James at Cambridge. Mr. Butler holds membership in the American Bar Association, the Nebraska Bar Association, Southwestern Nebraska Bar Association, the Cambridge Community Club, the Cambridge Rotary Club, and the Nebraska State Historical Society. He is affiliated with the First Congregational Church of Cambridge, holds membership in the Young Men's Christian Association, and is a member of the Cambridge Golf Club.
His fraternal organizations include the Elks, Odd Fellows, Modern Woodmen of America, and the Masons, (Scottish Rite and Shrine). His favorite sports are golfing and riding. During the World War Mr. Butler was active in Liberty loan drives and Four Minute work. Guy Butler
Guy Butler, who has been in the drug business at Lincoln since 1920, was born at Missouri Valley, Iowa, August 16, 1879, and has resided in Nebraska forty years. He is the son of H. G. and Ida (Wills) Butler. H. G. Butler died at Los Angeles, on November 11, 1928, and his wife at Cambridge, Nebraska, November 12, 1890.
Mr. Butler is a graduate in pharmacy of the Northwestern School of Pharmacy. He is the senior member of the firm of Butler-Wagey Drug Company at Lincoln, at the present time has been a member of the Nebraska Pharmacentical (sic) Association for 15 years and has served on the pharmacy examining board.
His marriage to Nellie Rosenfelt took place at Cambridge, Nebraska, April 22, 1903. Mrs. Butler was born at Cambridge, July 30, 1880. There are two children, Helen, born May 4, 1904, who is a graduate nurse, and Kenneth, born April 12, 1905, who is a graduate embalmer. They are members of the Second Baptist Church of Lincoln. Mr. Butler is a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He enjoys football more than any other sport. Residence: Lincoln.
Hugh Alfred Butler
Born at Missouri Valley, Iowa, February 28, 1878, Hugh A. Butler is the son of Harvey Gibson and Ida (Wills) Butler. Harvey G. Butler was born in Sangamon County, Illinois, September 20, 1846, and was descended of early settlers in Kentucky, near Louisville. He died at Los Angeles, November 11, 1927. His wife, Ida Wills, was born in Harrison County, Iowa, January 7. She died at Cambridge, November 12, 1891.
Upon his completion of grade school in the country schools of Iowa and Nebraska, Mr. Butler entered the Cambridge High School and was graduated in June, 1895.
He was active in athletics and debate while in college. He received an S. B. degree from Doane College in June, 1859, and died at Cambridge, Nebraska, November 12, 1891.
On February 5, 1903, he was married to Fay Johnson of Crete, at Aurora, Nebraska. Mrs. Butler traces her ancestry on both sides to the Mayflower, through Governor Bradford. Their children were Lawrence, born June 14, 1909, died July 15, 1909, and Robert, born December 28, 1912, died March 12, 1925.
After eight years with the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, as construction engineer, Mr. Butler was engaged with the Crete Mills ten years as manager at Curtis and Crete. Since 1918 he has been in business for himself, and is now president of the Butler-Welsh Grain Company. He is a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board of Omaha, president of the National Grain Dealers Association, the Omaha Grain change and member of the Chicago Board of Trade. He is one of the trustees of Doane College, and a member of the board of education of Omaha. He is affiliated with the First Central Congregational Church of Omaha, and is a member of the Rotary Club, the Modern Woodmen of America, the Chamber of Commerce, the Odd Fellows and the Masons. His clubs are the University Club, the Omaha Athletic Club, the Happy Hollow Country Club

and the Omaha Field Club. He is fond of hunting, and enjoys taking movies of his hunting trips. Residence: Omaha.
James Arthur Butler
James Arthur Butler, a former newspaper editor and farmer, was born at Stoney Fork, Pennsylvania, December 15, 1861, and in 1868 came to Benton County, Iowa, and came to Nebraska in October, 1879. In 1880-1881 he taught at the Riverside School in a dugout. His father, Welman Sumner Butler, a farmer, was born at Keene, New Hampshire, April 4, 1824, and died at Ewing, Nebraska, April 3, 1913; his ancestry was Irish and English. Eliza Ann (Catlin) Butler, his mother, was born at Otsego, New York, October 26, 1827, and for many years was a teacher; she died at Ewing, November 26, 1908.
Mr. Butler acted as editor of the Public Opinion at Orchard, Nebraska, from 1890 to 1891, and for a number of years was a farmer in Antelope County, Nebraska. He entered the United States service as a mail carrier in 1903 and continued in that capacity until 1931 when he was retired. He is president of the Ewing Commercial Club, is chairman of the relief committee of the Red Cross, and since 1925 has served as president of the local school board, having been a member of that board since 1914. Mr. Butler is treasurer of the village board of Ewing. His hobby is good government, and his political preference is the Democratic party.
On September 14, 1887, he married Ora Comstock at Ewing. Mrs. Butler, who was born at Cascade, Iowa, May 13, 1868, was a teacher until after her marriage. The following children were born to this marriage: Pearl, November 21, 1888, who died December 31, 1896; Ruby, January 6, 1891; Winifred, April 24, 1893, who married Ora Switzer; Mildred, April 6, 1895, who married Wilbur Bennett, and who died January 30, 1919; Jay, February 17, 1898; Kay, November 11, 1900, who died July 25, 1901; Gretchen, July 11, 1902; Alberta, April 3, 1905; Donald, April 8, 1908; and Cleo, December 31, 1910. Willis Myron Butler
Willis Myron Butler was born at Phillipsville, Pennsylvania, February 16, 1870, the son of Richard Emory and Charlotte Annette (Rockwood) Butler. His father, a blacksmith, was born at Phillipsville, August 12, 1843; his ancestors coming from Schuyler, New York. His mother was born at Erie City, Pennsylvania, August 5, 1847, of French and English parentage; her father, who was born in Massachusetts, served in the Revolution. Both parents now reside at Ashland.
Mr. Butler, who has lived in Nebraska for 50 years, is now president of the Butler Dry Goods Company at Ashland. He is a member of the Ashland Chamber of Commerce, is affiliated with the Congregational Church, holds membership in the Nebraskana Society, and for several years has been a member of the Ashland School Board. He is a member of the Scottish Rite and Shrine bodies, and is past master of Pomegranite Lodge No. 110 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.
His marriage to Ella Edna Vandeman was solemnized at Ashland, October 19, 1894. Mrs. Butler was born at Youngstown, Ohio, April 19, 1871. They have two children: Hazel, born September 12, 1895, who married Eugene F. Adams; and Dwight W., born September 22, 1897, who married Freda Voght, and who is now associated with his father in business. Mr. Butler is a Republican. Residence: Ashland.
Gordon Bryan Butterfield
Gordon Bryan Butterfield, has been a resident of Norfolk for about 12 years, and is district manager of the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York, at Norfolk. He was born at Fort Crook, Nebraska, September 25, 1896, the son of Charles Adolph and Sophia Ann (Julyan) Butterfield, the former a lifetime resident of this state. His mother was born in England, October 30, 1860, and came to America at the age of 13. His father was born February 9, 1857, at Belleville, Nebraska.
Mr. Butterfield attended the Wood Lake High School and later completed a stenography course at Boyles College in Omaha, Nebraska. He was connected with the Wood Lake Bank for a year, served in the United States Army during the War, was connected with the Chicago & Northwestern Railway Company for nearly three years, and served as stenographer and bookkeeper for The Butterfield Company for six years. He has been district manager of the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York for the past six years.
He is a member of the National Association of Life Underwriters, the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, and the First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk. He is a Mason, a member of time Eastern Star, and of the Meridian Heights Golf Club. He is interested in prehistoric relics, while his favorite sports are golfing, hunting, and fishing.
During the World War he served as sergeant of Company F, 109th Supply Train, 34th Division, of the United States Army, and was overseas for eight months. He is a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On December 25, 1921, he married Mary Jane Nightingale at Chadron, Nebraska. She is the daughter of Isaac N. and Mary Lilly (Bush) Nightingale. Her mother was born March 27, 1867, and her father on June 2, 1859, both in Fon du lac County, Wisconsin. Mrs. Butterfield, who was formerly a stenographer and bookkeeper, was born at Norfolk, February 28, 1898. They have one son, Gale Eugene, born June 29, 1931. Residence: Norfolk.
William Spencer Butterfield
William Spencer Butterfield, farmer and real estate operator, was born at Columbus, Wisconsin, October 21, 1889. His father, William Henry Butterfield, was born at Albany, New York, April 16, 1843. He was a very successful real estate, livestock and lumber dealer at the time of his death at Norfolk on April 18, 1916.
Josephine Dayton, wife of William Henry Butterfield, was born at Albany, September 26, 1848, and died at Norfolk on February 27, 1930. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Educated in the preparatory department at Lake Forest, Illinois, until 1907, Mr. Butterfield later attended Norfolk High School. During the years 1908-11 he was a student at Iowa State College where he was a member of Sigma Sigma and Phi Gamma Delta.
An extensive farmer, Mr. Butterfield, is also in the real estate business as vice president and secretary of The Butterfield Company. He is a Republican. During the World War he was called for service, passed and placed in the commissary department as a first lieutenant, but due to his extensive farm and feeding operations was never called into active service.
Mr. Butterfield is an Episcopalian and a Republican. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, the Masons (Scottish Rite), the Elks and the Nebraskana Society. At the present time he is serving as secretary-treasurer of U. S. Highway No. 20 Association. His clubs are the Athletic and the Norfolk Country Club and his favorite sports are golf and football.
