Albert Carl Davidson

Since 1899, Albert Carl Davidson has been engaged in the practice of dentistry, living most of this time at Holdrege, Nebraska. He was born at Lake Station, Indiana, November 26, 1866, the son of Gustaf and Carolina (Carlson) Davidson. His father, who was a farmer, was born in Sweden, May 31, 1821, and died at Holdrege, January 8, 1899. His mother was born in Sweden, September 4, 1843, and died at Holdrege, April 20, 1920.

Dr. Davidson received the D. D. S. degree at Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago, where he was offered a position as instructor after graduation. For eight years he practiced dentistry at Chariton, Iowa, and since then has been continuously engaged in his profession at Holdrege. He is a member of the First Methodist Church where he is a teacher in the Sunday School, and was formerly a member of various community organizations at Holdrege. Dr. Davidson was a member of the official board of the First Methodist Episcopal Church.

His marriage to Amanda Augusta Wedean occurred at Wilcox, Nebraska, March 27, 1895. Mrs. Davidson was born of Swedish parents in Jefferson County, Iowa, September 24, 1876. They have two children: Vernon Arthur Carl, who is a florist at Denver, Colorado; and Alberta Pauline, born April 26, 1906, who was graduated from the State Teachers College, and is a commercial teacher. She was awarded the championship in shorthand in the state of Nebraska, in 1924. Residence: Holdrege.


Edith Stokes Davidson

Edith Stokes Davidson was born at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, August 8, 1881, the daughter of Lisle and Mary Etta (Burnham) Stokes. Her father, who was born at Moorsetown, New Jersey, January 17, 1845, and died at Philadelphia, February 13, 1896, was engaged in the real estate business. He was of English ancestry and was a member of the Society of Friends.

Her mother was born at Springfield, Massachusetts, April 6, 1847, and died at Los Angeles, California, September 12, 1926.

Mrs. Davidson received her education in the public school and in the Friend's School in Philadelphia. Later she was a student at Dana Hall, Wellesley, Massachusetts. She has lived in Nebraska for 14 years.

Her marriage to James E. Davidson was solemnized at Philadelphia, April 15, 1903. Mr. Davidson is president of the Nebraska Power Company. There are three children: Dorothy, born May 6, 1904, who married Thomas B. Coleman, Junior; James E., born January 10, 1906; and John Stokes, born September 8, 1907.

During the World War Mrs. Davidson engaged in canteen work and Belgian relief. She is a member of the Red Cross, is president of the Omaha Drama League, and is director of the Visiting Nurse Association. She is active in the Friends of Music Society. She is a member of the board of directors of the Y. W. C. A. residence and member of the membership committee of the Tuesday Musicale Club. She is affiliated with the Trinity Cathedral, and is a Republican. Residence: Omaha.


James Davidson

A leading business man at O'Neill, Nebraska, is James Davidson, who has been a resident of that community for the past 55 years. He was born in Stockton County, Indiana, December 6, 1871, the son of Owen Evans and Rebecca (Hilligas) Davidson. His father, who was born in Coshocton County, Ohio, September 10, 1838, and died at O'Neill, October 15, 1905, was a carpenter and served in the 121st Indiana Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. His mother, who reared a family of 10 children, was born in Harrison County, Ohio, January 4, 1841, and died at O'Neill, October 25, 1928.

Mr. Davidson is manager and owner of a plumbing and heating establishment at O'Neill. He is a member of the National Geographic Society and the Nebraskana Society, and many years ago served as a member of the Nebraska National Guards. His hobby is fishing.

He married Anna Hansen at O'Neill, November 7, 1893. Mrs. Davidson, whose parents came to this country from Denmark, was born in New York, March 27, 1872. They have eleven children: John, born May 19, 1894, who married Edith J. Sexsmith; Clyde, born April 7, 1896, who married Stella Hoover; Edward, born July 1, 1898, who married Catherine Morrison; Ralph, born. November 3, 1900, who married Margaret Degnan; Dorothy, born May 5, 1903, who married J. Fred Degnan; James Edgar, born June 8, 1905; Frances Fay, born august 30, 1907, who married Floyd Hardesty; Lloyd Evans, born January 31, 1910; Frank, born March 2, 1912; Eileen, born April 10, 1916; and Owen, born November 11, 1918. William Edward Davidson

William Edward Davidson, formerly a dentist, and at this time a florist at Hastings, has lived in this state since 1876. He was born at East Gary, Indiana, November 13, 1870, and for over 30 years has been active in civic projects in his community. His father, Gustaf Davidson, who was a farmer, was born in Sweden, April 20, 1821, came to America in 1846, and died at Holdrege, December 6, 1898. His mother was born in Sweden, March, 1843, and died at Holdrege, April 19, 1920.

Dr. Davidson received his education in the Holdrege High School where he was graduated, 1895, and in 1900 was awarded the D. D. S. degree at Northwestern University. From 1900 to 1910, he practiced dentistry, when because of failing health he entered the florist business. He is now proprietor and manager of the Davidson Floral Company at Hastings, Adams County, Nebraska. He is independent, politically; from 1915 to 1919 he served as mayor of Holdrege, Nebraska.

He is a member of the Red Cross, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and the Young Men's Christian Association; is president of the Nebraska State Florist Society; and is a member of the board of directors of the Salvation Army. His fraternal organizations include: Elks, Modern Woodmen of America, Knights of Pythias, and Masons (Shrine). He holds membership in the Hillside Golf Club, is affiliated with the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Hastings, and is a member of the Nebraskana Society. His hobby is plant study.

On May 20, 1900, he was united in marriage with Clara A. Wedean at Spaulding, Adair County, Iowa; she was born at Agency City, Iowa, January 5, 1875. To this union the following children were born: Oliver W., born November 2, 1901; Russell W., born October 2, 1903; Louise, born January 20, 1905, who died August 30, 1923; William Edward, born August 5, 1914, who died June 12, 1915; Paul Benjamin, April 17, 1919. Russell was graduated from the University of Illinois, in 1927, and is now a landscape architect with the Rockefeller Development at Cleveland, Ohio. Residence: Hastings.


Edward Llewellyn Davies

A hardware merchant at Ewing for the past twenty-eight years, Edward Llewellyn Davies is the son of Evan Mathias and Mary Ann (Bowen) Davies. He was born at Glenburn, Pennsylvania, April 13, 1877, and came to Nebraska forty-seven years ago.

Evan Mathias Davies was a native of Wales, born April 23, 1837, and who died at Ewing, June 4, 1892. He was a contractor and builder. His wife, Mary Ann, born in Dowlas, Wales, August 2, 1842, was a teacher in her younger days, and later raised a family of eight children on the farm. Her father was a merchant in the same location 50 years, and was also a teacher of voice. Her brother, David Bowen, was an accomplished pianist.

attended high school two years and was graduated from Fremont Normal Business College on August 2, 1902. He farmed for a while, and has since engaged in the hardware business. For eight years he also owned and operated a moving picture theatre.

He was married to Pearle Louella Peeler at Lynch, Nebraska, November 25, 1908. She was born at Clinton, Missouri, July 24, 1883. There are three children, Everal, born June 4, 1910, who married Stanley Reamer, and who resides in David City; Eloise, born September 27, 1912; and Claude Edward, born July 6, 1916. He has one granddaughter, Marlene Eloise, born February 25, 1931.

Eloise won the state essay contest sponsored by Omicrom Nu, the national honorary home economics society at the University of Nebraska in 1927, and the state contest sponsored by the American Chemical Society in 1928-29. She was valedictorian of her class at Ewing High School at the age of 16. Mrs. Davies studied at the convent in O'Neill and later taught at Bristow and Dusten. She has conducted private art classes since her marriage.

Mr. Davies is a Republican, served as a member of the village board fourteen years, and held the office of mayor eight years. He is a member of the Masons, the ModernWoodmen of America and the Red Cross and The Nebraskana Society, and has been a member of the Ewing band for twenty years. Rupert Arthur Davies

For the past 31 years Rupert A. Davies has practiced medicine at Arlington, Nebraska, and has been prominent in civic and educational activities there He was born at Fremont, February 9, 1875, the son of James and Mary Elizabeth (Williams) Davies. His father, a druggist, was born in Wales,. came to America in 1846, and died at Fremont, in 1878. His mother was born in Wales, and died at Fremont, in 1911.

Dr. Davies attended the Fremont public school, and in 1900, received the M. D. degree at Rush Medical College; he was a student at the University of Chicago, for a time. He is now practicing physician and surgeon at Arlington, is a member of the board of directors of the Arlington State Bank, and is connected with the Farmers Grain & Lumber Company.

For a number of years he served on the school board, and for the past ten years he has been a member of the board of trustees of Arlington. He is past president of the Elkhorn Valley Medicinal Society. Dr. Davies was married to Mary Elizabeth Blackburn, at Arlington, December 3, 1902. Mrs. Davies was born at Arlington, January 15, 1876. Archie C. Davis

Archie C. Davis, abstracter of titles, was born at Ord, Nebraska, November 15, 1886, son of John I. and Alice A. (Hutchins) Davis. His ancestry is Welsh and English.

Upon the completion of his high school education, Mr. Davis attended Grand Island Business College. He has been elected clerk of the district court three terms beginning November 1, 1921, and is still serving. He is also county clerk. He is a Republican. He is a member of the Odd Fellows, the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and the Modern Woodmen of America. His hobbies are baseball and golf.

On October 25, 1911, he was married to Nella Mae McClarey at Harrison, Nebraska. She was born near Clear Field, Iowa, November 13, 1890. There are two children, Thea Fay, born December 18, 1912; and Bonne Jeane, born September 1, 1918. Residence: Harrison.


Camille Hall Davis

Camille Hall Davis, who has lived in Nebraska all her life and has taken a prominent part in civic affairs, was born at Lincoln, Nebraska, July 19, 1886. Her father, Charles Leland Hall, a distinguished lawyer, and judge of the district court, was born in Ohio, December 15, 1855, and died at Lincoln August 24, 1898; his ancestry was English. Her mother, Clara Lillian (Stanhope) Hall, was born of English parentage, in Ohio, September 12, 1858.

Mrs. Davis was graduated from Lincoln High School in 1903, and in 1907 was a student at the University of Nebraska where she held membership in Kappa Alpha Theta. She is now president of the Nebraska League of Women Voters, is a member of the Lincoln Park Board, holds membership in the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra board, and is a board member of the Community Chest at Lincoln

She is a member of the board of the Nebraska Art Association, holds membership in the Nebraskana Society, and is affiliated with All Souls Unitarian Church at Lincoln.

Her marriage to Ellery Davis was solemnized at Lincoln. Mr. Davis who is an architect, was born at Lake City, Columbia County, Florida, February 21, 1887. His ancestry is English. They have two children: Ellery Hall, born December 23, 1912; and Mary Helen, born June 8, 1915. Residence:. Lincoln.


Charles Edward Davis

Charles Edward Davis, who has been a dentist at Oxford, Nebraska, for the past 15 years, was born in that community February 17, 1893, the son of Fred Harrison and Elizabeth Ann (Smallbrood) Davis. His father, who has served as head chef in the same hotel for the past 30 years, was born in London, England, in 1863. His mother, an active member of the Eastern Star and the P. E. O., was born of French parents at St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1865, and died at Oxford, January 29, 1931.

Dr. Davis was graduated from the Oxford High School in 1911, received the D. D. S. degree at Creighton University in 1916, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Delta, and since then has been one of the leading professional men at Oxford. He holds membership in the American Dental Association, the Nebraska Dental Association, the Lions Club, and the Masonic Lodge. He is a member of the Oxford School Board, the Oxford Country Club, and the First Presbyterian Church. His chief recreations are golfing, fishing, and reading.

He served as first lieutenant in the Dental Reserve Corps during the World War, connected with a hospital in France, and from 1920 to 1925 was captain of the Reserve Corps. Dr. Davis is affiliated with the Democratic party and The Nebraskana Society.

On December 31, 1917, he married Gladys Ethel Neuerberg at Houston, Texas. Mrs. Davis, who was a teacher prior to her marriage, was born at Oxford, August 14, 1896; her ancestry is Swedish and German. Their children are: Dean H., born August 15, 1920; and Donna Elizabeth, November 5, 1922. Residence: Oxford.


Clarence Alba Davis

Clarence Alba Davis, prominent in political and professional affairs at Holdrege, Nebraska, has been engaged in the practice of law there for the past 16 years. He was born at Beaver City, November 21, 1892, son of Thomas Milburn and Nannie (Gelvin) Davis. His father, who was born at Hillsboro, Ohio, May 14, 1854, and died at Rochester, Minnesota, August 12, 1919, was a distinguished banker and served as president of the Bankers Association; he was past grand master of the Nebraska Masons. Scotch, was born in Washington County, Iowa, September 12, 1856.

Mr. Davis was graduated from Beaver City High School in 1910, received the A. B. degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1913, and in 1916 was awarded the LL. B. degree at Harvard Law School. He was valedictorian of his graduating class at Wesleyan, was active in debating, served as junior class president, and held membership in Pi Kappa Delta and Everett. He received a letter in track and tennis at Wesleyan and was state champion in tennis 1913-1915.

Since his admission to the bar in 1916, Mr. Davis has been a leader in civic affairs at Holdrege. A Republican, he served as attorney general of Nebraska, 1919-23, was a member of the Uniform Laws Commission, 1922-24, and served as delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1928. He is a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Holdrege Chamber of Commerce, and the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Davis is a former member of the board of governors of the Nebraska State Historical Society, The Nebraskana Society, and the First Methodist Church of Holdrege. He was formerly a member of the Lincoln Kiwanis Club, and is now a member of the University Club of Omaha, the Lincoln Country Club, and Happy Hollow Club of Omaha. His favorite sports are golfing and tennis. He is a captain in the Judge Advocate General Reserve.

He was united in marriage with Florence Wells at Schuyler, Nebraska, August 2, 1916. They have one son, Thomas Milburn, born March 25, 1918. Residence: Holdrege. (Photograph on Page 302).


Clarence M. Davis

Born at Harrison, Nebraska, July 12, 1894, Clarence M. Davis is the son of Asa Carleton and Sarah Amanda (Gifford) Davis. His father, who was manager of a lumber yard for a time, and later was in the real estate business at Lead, South Dakota, was born at Ewing, Illinois, and died at Texarkana, Texas, in September, 1915.

Mr. Davis attended the public schools of Lead, and in 1916, received the LL. B. degree at the University of South Dakota. He was unusually prominent in college activities in the following capacities: a member of the university debating team three times; debated Ames, Drake, and Kansas State College, was president of the Mask and Wig Club, 1915-16; was assistant editor of the University Paper; and held membership in Lambda Chi Alpha; Phi Delta Phi; and Tau Kappa Alpha. He was consul for the Ames Inn of Phi Delta Phi and organized the local chapter of Sigma Delta Upsilon, which later became a chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha.

He was a member of the firm Davis & Shield, at Salem, South Dakota, 1916-19, Davis & Davis, of Ord, 1920-27, Davis & Vogeltanz, since 1928. He is director in the Ord Creamery Company of Ord, Nebraska, is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and was formerly president of the Ord Community Club. Mr. Davis was president of the Rotary Club for two years, has served on the library board since 1927, and in 1918, was vice chairman of the Red Cross he holds membership in the American Bar Association, the Commercial Law League of America. the Nebraska Bar Association, the Valley County Bar Association, all bodies of the Masons, the Odd Fellows. He was Grand Master of the Grand Council of Royal and Select Master Masons in Nebraska, in 1926, and the Nebraskana Society.

During the late war he acted as chairman of the Four Minute Men of McCook County, South Dakota, was connected with the legal advisory board, and was fuel administrator, locally. He is a member of the Civil Legion at this time. As a member of the Republican party, Mr. Davis has taken an active part in county and state political affairs for the past 15 years. He was county chairman of McCook County, 1917-20, was a member of the state committee, served as vice chairman of the Republican Committee of Valley County for several years, was alternate delegate to the Republican Convention at Cleveland, 1924, served as city attorney of Ord, from 1928 to 1930, and since 1927, has been a member of the township library board. In April, 1932, he was elected delegate to the Republican National Convention at Chicago from the 5th Congressional District of Nebraska.

He married Ida A. Bakker at Salem, December 1, 1918. Mrs. Davis, who was a teacher prior to her marriage, was born in the Netherlands, July 3, 1894. Two children were born to them: Virginia, born June 9, 1921; and Beverly, September 23, 1923. Mr. Davis is the author of several articles on the history of the Black Hills of South Dakota. Claude A. Davis

One of the leading lawyers at Grand Island, Nebraska, Claude A. Davis has resided in this state for more than 30 years. He was born at Mount Vernon, Illinois, May 21, 1882, the son of Amanda (Gifford) Davis and Asa C. Davis, the latter a lumberman who was born in Franklin County, Illinois, September 27, 1856, and died at Texarkana, Texas, September 27, 1915. His mother was also born in Franklin County, November 14, 1863.

Mr. Davis attended the grade school at Custer, South Dakota, was graduated from the Lead High School, and in 1906, received the LL. B. degree at the University of Nebraska, where he was a member of Order of Coif and Delta Upsilon. He was elected to membership in Phi Delta Phi.

Since his admission to the bar in 1906, he has been a member of the law firm Davis & Davis at Ord, and Cleary, Suhr, & Davis at Grand Island. He served as county attorney of Valley County, Nebraska, 1909-13, and was judge of the Supreme Court Commission, 1928-31. Mr. Davis is a member of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce, the American Bar Association, the Nebraska State Bar Association, and the Hall County Bar Association. He is a Mason and Elk, and his social club is the University Club of Lincoln, Nebraska.

He was united in marriage with Mary Carlota Smith, at Ord, Nebraska, July 25, 1909. Mrs. Davis, whose ancestors came to this country in the Mayflower, was born at Ord, August 17, 1885. Their children are: Carlota, born September 12, 1910; Eldon, born July 11, 1912; and Dean, born January 3, 1916. Residence: Grand Island.


Edward Samuel Davis

Edward Samuel Davis, executive, was born at Stacyville, Iowa, December 18, 1869, son of Thomas A. and Mary (Lawrence) Davis. The father, born in Carmarthenshire, Wales, July 12, 1818, came to America in 1832. His wife was born in Carmarthenshire, Wales, November 12, 1830, and came to America in 1840.

In May, 1887, Mr. Davis was graduated from high school at Indianola, Iowa. He was in the hardware business from 1885 until 1900; Sidney, Iowa, until 1891, Broken Bow, Nebraska, from 1891 until 1894, and from 1894, until 1900, at North Platte, Nebraska. He served as deputy county treasurer from 1900 until 1904, in Lincoln County, Nebraska. He was county treasurer from 1904-08, also of Lincoln County, Nebraska; postmaster from 1911, until 1916, of North Platte, Nebraska; and grand secretary of the Grand Lodge I. O. O. F. of Nebraska from 1923, until the present time. He is also a member of the Kiwanis Club. He is a great lover of nature and enjoys fishing, and is also devoted to history and pioneer life.

On October 12, 1892, he was married to Clara Leona Eskew, at Sidney, Iowa. She was born at Sidney, Iowa, January 25, 1872. They have two children, William Edward, born February 3, 1900, who married Alberta Cal-

lender, who served in Students Army Training Corps at Ames, Iowa, during the war and is also a graduate of the University of Nebraska; and Robert Lee, born August 17, 1909, who is single. Both children were born at North Platte.

During the late war, Mr. Davis was an active participant in all bond and loan drives as a five minute man. He is a Republican, and has served as state representative during the sessions of 1919 to 1921 in the Nebraska state legislature. Residence: North Platte.


Edwin Davis

Edwin Davis, surgeon, was born in Lake City, Florida, December 13, 1888, son of Ellery W. and Annie Turner (Wright) Davis.

Dr. Davis received the Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska, and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins Medical School in 1912. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi and Phi Rho Sigma.

On September 20, 1921, he was married to Dorothy Balback at Omaha.

A Republican, Dr. Davis is interested in politics. He is the author of about 40 medical articles, dealing with various phases of his profession.

Dr. Davis' professional organizations include the Omaha-Douglas County, and Nebraska State Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the American Association of Genito-Urinary Surgeons, the American Urological Association and the American College of Surgeons. Residence: Omaha.


Ellery Lothrop Davis

Ellery Davis, noted architect, was born at Lake City, Florida, February 21, 1887, son of Ellery Williams and Annie (Wright) Davis. His father was born at Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, March 29, 1857, and was professor of mathematics and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Nebraska until his death at Lincoln on February 2, 1918. His wife, Annie, was born at Lake City, September 10, 1855, and is still living.

In 1894 the family removed to Lincoln, where Lothrop attended the public and high schools, graduating in 1903, with the honor of being valedictorian. In 1907 he received his A. B. from the University of Nebraska, and in 1909 his B. Arch. from Columbia University. He is a member of Sigma Xi.

On March 30, 1912, he was married to Mary Camille Hall at Lincoln. There are two children, Ellery Hall, born December 23, 1912; Mary Helen, born June 3, 1915.

A resident of Nebraska since 1894, Mr. Davis has practiced architecture both in partnership and individually, since 1909, and has designed many school and business buildings in Lincoln and throughout Nebraska, including many of the University of Nebraska buildings. At the present time he is a member of the firm of Davis and Wilson in partnership with W. F. Wilson. A Mason, he is a member of the Scottish Rite and Shrine, he is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. His clubs are the University and the Lincoln Country, and his hobby is chess. Residence: Lincoln.


Ellsworth Elmer Davis

Born of pioneer Nebraska parentage, Ellsworth E. Davis has lived in this state practically all his life. He was born in Williams County, Ohio, November 24, 1862, the son of Walter and Elizabeth (Welton) Davis. His father, who was a farmer, was born in Pennsylvania, in 1829, and died at Columbus, Ohio, in 1865. His mother, whose ancestry was English, was born in Ohio, September 23, 1837, and died at Central City, Nebraska, January 3, 1921.

Mr. Davis is a Republican, and has served on the village board for a total of 11 years, acting as chairman for six years. For over 29 years he has been a member of the Clarks Fire Company. He has been a barber at Clarks, since 1888.

On November 23, 1884, he was united in marriage with Eva Luella Headley. Mrs. Davis, whose ancestry is English and German, was born in Williams County, Ohio, March 24, 1864. Four children were born to them, two of whom are living; Lena, born March 13, 1886, who married Homer Chandler, and who died October 9, 1919; Walter, born March 25, 1895, who married Florence Hansen; Viva, born October 7, 1897, who married Sylvester Whetstine; and Helen, born June 12, 1899, who died in September, 1901. Walter has been in the employ of the Union Pacific Railway Company for 19 years. Residence: Clarks.


Freda Martha Davis

Freda Martha Davis, editor and clubwoman, was born at Lincoln, Nebraska. She received her education in the public and high schools of Lincoln and attended the University of Nebraska during 1920, 21 and 22. She married W. Leroy Davis, who is a traveling salesman. They have no children.

Mrs. Davis was associated with the Lincoln Daily Star during 1916 and 1917. She has held various offices in the state and local Federation of Women's Clubs, and the League of Women's Voters, and the American Association of University Women. At the time suffrage was granted to women she was an officer in the Lancaster County Suffrage Association.

A Republican, she was elected alternate delegate at large to the Republican National Convention in 1928. At the present time she is an officer in the League of Women Voters, and a member of the American Association of University Women. Residence: Lincoln.


Frederick Hamilton Davis

One of the outstanding business executives of Madison, Nebraska, is Frederick Hamilton Davis, who was born in Madison County, July 14, 1873, the son of Angelme (Bunce) and George Davis. George Davis, who was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, January 29, 1852, and died at Alma, Nebraska, January 30, 1907, was a homesteader in Madison County, where he later served as commissioner and sheriff; he was a leader in all political and civic affairs in his community, and was admired and liked by his many friends.

Otho Davis, grandfather of Frederick Davis, was born in Kentucky, the family having come there from Wales, in the early history of the state. Angeline (Bunce) Davis was born in Missouri, October 6, 1854.

Mr. Davis attended the grade school at Madison, and later was a student at the normal college at Fremoat, Nebraska. For the past 17 years he has served as postmaster at Madison, and prior to that was secretary of the Madison County Building & Loan Association for 10 years; he continues to act as director and auditor of the latter organization at this time. He is also a salesman for the Woods Brothers Securities Company of Lincoln, is secretary of the Madison Cemetery Association, and holds membership in the Madison Community Club.

He holds membership in the Royal Highlanders, and the following Masonic bodies: Nebraska Globe Lodge, Number 113, Consistory, Number 2, Sesostris Temple; Shrine. He was president of the Tri County Old Settlers Association in 1926, which comprises three counties, and is now vice president of that organization. Mr. Davis' social club is the Madison Golf Club, and his favorite sports are golfing, fishing, and motor-boating. He is affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church of Madison, is a member of the Red Cross, and holds membership in the Nebraskana Society.
