Who's Who in Nebraska, 1940 Common "Scannos"
This term supplied by Mona Houser (who knows about these things - grin)!
As the bios in this book are primarily abbreviations, spell checking was almost worthless!
"Find & replace" was used on most chapters for the more common and known scanning errors.
Certain that these & other errors remain scattered about in the text.

We find the substitutions you see above occur in almost all scanned text - 1, l and I are interchanged, e and c, a and s.
Fortunately, the font of this book was such that most numbers were scanned in correctly in the tex of the bios.
This was NOT true in the index, 5 & 6 were interchangable, 8 became 9, and 9 became zero. On occasion, 7 became "T" and 4 could be anything! As a consequence, have been double-check proofing the index and HOPE all page numbers are now correct.
Recommend you keep these "scannos" in mind while reading the bios, and hope you have enough clues that you can figure out what "oughta' be".
