In the name of God amen.** I Moses Jones of Canaan County of Columbia and State of New York being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory obliged to almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following--first I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Dorothea Jones the one half of the farm during her life also to take the [illegible] of the whole farm according to the true interest and meaning of a bond given to me and my wife by William Remmington which is to be received [sic.] anully [sic.] from the said William Remington [sic.] during her life likewise such part of the furniture as will be useful to my wife. She may dispose of to my two children except what I have disposed of in the will to some of my grandchildren I likewise give and bequeath daughter Luana Hill the brass kettle also I give to Luana Jones Abel Jones [sic.] daughter my gold nubs half a sett [sic.] of silver teaspoons a pair of tongs of silver and I give to Moses J. Jones forty dollars worth of my property and of my estate after my wife's decease except my wife thinks proper to give it sooner. [I] bequeath unto William Remmington one cart and a pair of oxen. It is my will that all my property is to be equally divided between my two children also I give each of my children a feather bead [sic.] and furniture At my wife's decease I give my [illegible] to Noah Brown for past favors. I also give Sabrina Odle one feather bead [sic.] and furniture after her grandmother's decease also the brass kettle not to come in the inventory but free, also to my son Ebenezer Hill I give my desk and appoint said Hill my sole executor of this my last Will and Testament freely revoking all former wills by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and six. County of Columbia SS* Be it remembered that on the eighteenth day of December in the year one thousand eight hundred and six, William Spier of the town of Canaan in the County of Columbia aforesaid appeared before me James J. Van Alen Surrogate of the County aforesaid being duly sworn deposeth and saith that he saw Moses Jones sign and seal the above instrument purporting to be his Last Will and Testament, that at the time of executing the same, he was of sound disposing mind [and] memory according to the best of the knowledge and belief of the deponant [sic.], and that the erazures [sic.] in the said will were made before the execution thereof, and also that Amy Snider, Moses J. Hill, and this deponant [sic.] severally subscribed their names as witnesses thereto in the presence of the testator and in the presence of each other. (Signed) James J. Van Alen Surrogate County of Columbia SS* Be it remembered that on the said eighteenth day of December in the year one thousand eight hundred and six Ebenezer Hill of the town of Stephentown in the County of Rensselaer executor in the said will named personally appeared before me James J. Van Alen Surrogate of the County of Columbia and was duly qualified to the due performance and execution of the said will by taking the oath by law appointed-- (Signed) James J. Van Alen Surrogate The people of the State of New York by the grace of God free and independent [sic.] To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern send greeting: know ye that at Kinderhook in the County of Columbia the day & date hereof before James J. Van Alen Esquire Surrogate of our said county the last Will and Testament of Moses Jones deceased (a copy wherof is hereunto annexed) was proved and is now approved and allowed of by us and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods, chattles [sic.] or assits [sic.] within this state, by means whereof the proving and registering the said will and the granting administration of all and singular the good [sic.], chattles [sic.] and assits [sic.] of the said deceased and anyway concerning his will is granted unto Ebenezer Hill of the town of Stephentown in the County of Rensselaer executor in the said will named he being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods, chattles [sic.] and assits [sic.] and also to render a just and true account thereof when this is so required. In testimony whereof we have caused the seal of office of our said surrogate to be hereunto affixed. Witness James J.
