Mrs. Mabel E. Dawson, 56, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kennedy of Kimbolton, drowned Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. while fishing at Knox Lake near Fredericktown. Mrs. Dawson was the wife of Max Dawson of 100 S. First St., Newark, where the family had moved from Kimboltom in 1943. She was employed in the housekeeping department of the YMCA. Born near Kimbolton, Feb. 20, 1907 to Charles and Olive Nelson Kennedy, she was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Newark. In addition tot her husband and parents, she leaves three daughters, Mrs. Alice Spring of Newark, Mrs. Maxine Bradshaw of California, and Dorothy of the home; two sons, Dale E. and Charles W., both of Newark; three sisters, Mrs. Robert [Jane] Wearsch of Guernsey, Mrs. Mae Morris of Kimbolton and Mrs. Hazel Dover of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, George Kennedy of Kimbolton; and 12 grandchildren. The body is at the Ross Henderson Funeral Home in Newark where callers will be received after 7 p.m. tonight. The Rev. Kenneth Lewis will conduct services in the chapel there Saturday at 1 p.m. and interment will follow in the Wilson Cemetery near Newark. History: 2001 November 25: First published here. |
