Walter WHITE

Source: Guernsey Times

Date: 1873 February 20

Submitted by Mary Jo Nay.

An Aged Citizen Gone

Died, on the 13th instant, at the residence of his son-in-law, in Richland Township, Mr. Walter White, aged ninety-one years and two days. He had enjoyed his usual good health till within thirty minutes of his death, and while his morning meal was preparing his head suddenly dropped, and on being assisted to lie down, he said, "I am dying" and spoke no more.

Mr. White came to Ohio sixty-one years ago, and has lived since that time in the immediate neighborhood where he died.  He was the father of twelve children, nine of whom survive him. Always an industrious honest citizen, a good neighbor, a kind and indulgent husband and parent, and an exemplary Christian, he stood deservedly high in the esteem of all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished by a large circle of relatives and friends, many of whom followed his remains on Friday last to their final resting place.
