There were quite a few Eubanks deeds, but only one good "quit claim" that listed the entire family and heirs. That was a Christina (who was apparently the widow of an Anthony Eubanks). She died 29 Mar., 1912 and the heirs listed were Austin Eubanks, H.M. Eubanks, M.F. Eubanks, Ella West, Samantha Moore, Elizabeth Hughes, Laura Ferneau, and "EX" Eubanks (who was listed later as "Axira")?? There was the notation after ALL of the heirs names - "aged". Isn't that strange? All quit-claimed to Austin, by the way. 1850 Census, Highland County, Ohio, Brushcreek Township pg. 694: Eubanks, James 32, M, Farmer, 1300, OH Mary A., 23, F, OH Elcey, 64, F, NJ 1850 Census, Highland County, Ohio, Brushcreek Township pg. 692: Eubanks, Anthony, 33, M, Farmer, 4500, OH Nancy, 25, F, OH James, 6, M, OH Theodore, 4, M, OH Irons, Thomas, 8, M, OH 1870 Census, Highland County, Ohio, Brushcreek Township pg. Recorder's Office this afternoon. I am sorry to say that after searching that 1916 atlas of Paint Tp., I was unable to locate your Eubanks homeplace. That doesn't necessarily mean it's NOT there. There is no index to these, and one just has to scan all the tiny letters printed every which way across the plat maps, trying to find (and trying to see/read) the entries. I will try again next trip over, before I give up. Every now and then I run across a name I've been hunting for a long time, and I've looked at the map in question dozens of times before. I did loacte a few items that may be of interest to you. I spent a while checking the indexed deed entries, and came across an entry for an M.S. Eubanks who bought a lot in New Petersburg on 3 Jan., 1916. It was in-lot #7. I realize that date is too late to be where your father was born. Then M.S. sold that same in-lot #7 to N.A. Eubanks on 22 Feb., 1916. He bought and sold it for $350. That got me to thinking that it might've been some sort of a family deal. I checked an older index for the same surname in the same area and found a Cyrus R. Eubanks had bought lots #45 . in New Petersburg on 21 May, 1814! Hope some of this gives you some food for thought. I took a couple of other notes of deed transactions that took place about the time you said your father was born there. Some Eubanks' name from that period were Horace G., Oscar, F. Etta, and John S., in addition to some of the others mentioned in the quit-claim deed. Let me know if you would like further info on any of these. It may not happen quickly :), but I will get to it sooner or later. Take care, Lynn
