Bornhofen, Anton (1868 - 18 Jul 1901)

Anton Bornhofen died at his home in this city Thursday evening, July 18, of dropsy of the liver. He had not been in good health since last fall and about four weeks ago commenced to grown rapidly worse and two days before his death took to his bed. Deceased was born in Germany and was 33 years of age. He came to America with his parents when 3 years old and after a brief stay in Chicago they moved to Myra, Washington County. Twelve years ago he came to Neillsville, Clark County. He was united in marriage in 1891, to Susan Marx of this city, who with a nine-year-old son is left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. He also leaves three brothers and three sisters and an aged father.

The funeral was held Saturday morning at St. Mary's Church, Rev. Father Jungblud officiating. The catholic Knights and St. Joseph's society of which he was an honored member, attended the funeral in a body, and the large concourse of friends who assembled at the last rites gave evidence of the high esteem in which he was held.
