DORCHESTER, MEYER'S MANUFACTURING CORP.
Starting business in 1944 in a small granary, Alvin Meyer engaged in repair work and manufacturing snow plows, farm wagons, grain elevators and truck racks. In 1946, a shop was built, and mobile homes and fork lifts were added to the production. In 1951 an idea was drawn for a false gate forage box for which Alvin received a patent. This was later redesigned into what is believed to be the first self-uploading forage unit built. Only forage boxes are produced at the present time, with dealers located throughout Wisconsin and a distributor located in Minnesota that sells nationwide and to Canada. Corporation officers are Alvin, Don and Larry Meyer and Wayne Underwood.
