Weix Drug Store--Dorchester, Wisconsin
Due to illness and the inability to operate, Marzell Weix closed the doors of his drug store after 45 years of business on October 13, 1972. Starting in business in 1927, Mr. Weix purchased the building from Henry Hagen and the stock and fixtures from Louis Homsted, who ran it as a drug store for a few years. Prior to that time, the building contained the Skruvani Shoe Store. It is estimated the building was built in the early 1900 s. His wife, Vera (Lapp) deceased in 1971, worked with him. Mr. Weix graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Ph. G. (Pharmaceutical Graduate) in 1924. For lack of 600.00 he states he could have finished his education to become a doctor. Funds were not as readily available during those days.
